Hastening Bloon is an Advanced Bloon card in Bloons Card Storm. When played, it reduces the delay of a random other Bloon on the player's side by 1, to a minimum of 0. The affected Bloon moves towards the queue in order of recentness (i.e. oldest go first). It cannot target Bloons that are already at 0 delay, cannot target Immobile Bloons, and if there are no Bloons it can target, the effect doesn't play.

The card artwork depicts a Hastening Bloon creating a whirlwind near a green-colored Bloon at a desert. According to the development sheets from Aimee Cairn's NZGDC presentation of BCS, the Hastening Bloon was based on the Yellow Bloon.

Tips

  • Like Quick Ready, Hastening Bloon can reduce a bloon's delay to 0, but costs 1 less Gold. It being a Bloon means it also generates 6 bloontonium and leaves behind a 150 health threat on the field. The downside of it compared to Quick Ready is that it affects a random Bloon, so it is best used in strategies that either don’t care about what Hastening hits or when it’s guaranteed to target one specific Bloon.
    • If there's exactly one possible candidate, Hastening Bloon will guarantee to reduce delay of that Bloon.
    • Storm Bloons can disrupt Hastening Bloon’s targeting on your own Bloons. Be wary of the storm when planning to use Hastening Bloon.
  • If looking for reducing the delay of a bloon with two delay to zero, such as any 1 delay bloon with Improved Fortification, or Triple Threat Bloon, it is recommended that only one Hastening Bloon is relied on before using Quick Ready, as playing more than one Hastening Bloon may end up reducing the delay of the first Hastening Bloon instead of the desired bloon.
  • The Hastening Bloon itself is hardly a threat, and using multiple Hastenings for pressure can be unreliable. It still does put stats on the field which can be used for small amounts of pressure in Tempo strategies.
    • At 150 Health at base, it has just enough Health to be stolen by Bloon Redirect outside of Dark Castle or an enemy Ezili without needing more damage.
  • Hastening Bloon cannot use its effect on 0 delay or Immobile Bloons, which helps improve the odds of Hastening hitting what you want it to.

Update history

  •   Description changed ― "On Play: Reduce the delay of a random friendly Bloon by 1" → "On Play: Reduce the delay of a random other friendly Bloon by 1"
  •   On Play effect now ignores Immobile Bloons
“
The reason why the delay reduction happened is because it makes running multiple Hastenings in a deck easier. A thing that would happen with Hastening is if you ran multiple, you'd have to play one and then, if you wanted to play another one, you'd have to wait two turns before you could actually do that because there would be a chance that the Hastening could hit the 1-delay Hastening Bloon. Now, with 1 delay, it means that you can play a Hastening Bloon, [...] pass one turn, and then it's on zero delay, meaning that your second Hastening can no longer hit that Hastening Bloon. Just makes it overall a little easier to use Hastening alongside itself. It makes it less of a chore to run multiple copies of Hastening.

  •   Health decreased ― 150 → 120
  •   Delay decreased ― 2 → 1

Development

The Version 6.2 buffs to Hastening Bloon were not tested in the Version 6.2 playtest.

Version 6.4 rework for Hastening Bloon makes it more consistent for its role as a delay reducer but as a Bloon.[1] More specifically, OdysseyTOS has stated that this rework removes an inconsistency where stacking Hastening Bloons would keep targeting Hastening Bloons, even after ending a turn to follow up one Hastening Bloon with more of that card.[1] Having 1 delay makes multi-Hastening tactics more viable.[1] As implied by 1 delay Bloons being so powerful in aggro, Hastening Bloon was nerfed in Health to not become a dominant pick in aggro to the point where it is always better than Quick Ready, despite OdysseyTOS's tester commentary not mentioning explicitly why not having the Health nerf would be too good.[1]
