Downstream is an Intermediate map in Bloons TD 6, introduced in version 4.0.

Layout

On Downstream, Bloons enter from the top, make 2 loops around the bottom-left and top-right, and exit at the bottom-right. There is a stream running down most of the map that allows water towers to be placed, hence the map's name. The trees & bushes at the top-left, top-right, and bottom-left all block line-of-sight slightly. There are 2 rocks, one in each loop, with each of them being removable for $350.

Strategy

Downstream is on the easier side of Intermediate maps, due to its single-lane and relatively long track. Long-range towers are generally best placed in the center of the open space at the middle-top to cover the entrance & middle & 2nd loop, while short-range towers like Tack Shooters function best inside the loops. The water to the right of the track's start works well for Monkey Buccaneers, allowing them can trigger both sides of their attack while having good coverage. Downstream can be beaten using general strategies listed here.

Towers that work well with Downstream's map layout are displayed below.

Name Portrait Reasoning
Destroyer The water to the right of the track's start gives Destroyer the ability to trigger both sides of its attack. With the 3-2-0 crosspath and Berserker Brew, Destroyer is a powerful option for the mid-game. It also transitions well to its succeeding upgrades, as Aircraft Carrier further improves its mid-game power and Carrier Flagship carries power into the late-game.
The Bloon Solver When placed in the center of the middle-top space and given a Monkey Village, Solver's range reaches the start, middle, and 2nd loop. With that, Solver can deal some damage to blimps at the start while easily clearing out large clumps of low-tier blimps and Super Ceramics at the middle & second loop with its puddles. Solver is best paired with a tower that performs well against high-health blimps and DDTs, such as Carpet of Spikes.
Prince of Darkness The large coverage of the track gained by Prince of Darkness above the map's center allows it to gather graveyard from Bloons & blimps constantly while cleaning up Bloons & DDTs with its back-spawning zombies. It works well with Ezili and Corvus, with the former granting its zombies +50% pierce and clearing out large amounts of RBE with MOAB Hex and the latter further utilizing its mana and clearing out RBE with Ancestral Might & Overload.
