CHIMPS

CHIMPS[fn 1] (short for No Continues, Hearts lost, Income, Monkey Knowledge, Powers or Selling) is a game mode in Bloons TD 6. In standard play, it is played on Hard difficulty. In singleplayer, it can only be played on a map after completing it on Impoppable. Like Impoppable, it starts on round 6 and ends after round 100. This mode applies a number of restrictions:

Medals

There are two versions of the CHIMPS medal: the red version, which is earned by completing the map on CHIMPS at all, and the black version, which is earned in addition to the red version by completing the game in one session without exiting the game or using the "Retry Last Round" option. If the player only earns the red version, the black version can still be unlocked by replaying the map on CHIMPS and meeting the condition. In Co-op, the red CHIMPS medal is earned if the player quits and re-joins the game later; this doesn't affect the type of CHIMPS medal the other participants earn, so it's possible for players to get different CHIMPS medals from each other even if they played the same match. The map thumbnail doesn't show the red version if the black version is owned, but both are shown on the profile.

Strategy

For more in-depth strategies, see Strategy:CHIMPS.

CHIMPS disables all income generators, making towers such as Monkey Town, Rubber to Gold, and Merchantman useless. In CHIMPS, it is important to not put down too many low-tier towers in the early-game and mid-game only for them to become useless later on. Instead, focus on a few strong towers with support. The hero is extremely important, as they have 100 rounds to level up and gain massive attack and/or support capabilities to become by far the most valuable tower on the screen.

  • Restarting a CHIMPS or Impoppable game no longer prevents the player from reopening the eye on Polyphemus (bug fix)
  • Now has a "Retry Last Round" option upon defeat in singleplayer
