Clever Lead Bloon is a Basic Bloon card in Bloons Card Storm, introduced in version 4.0. Its armor reduces damage taken by 10. When played, if the previous card played by the player was a Monkey, it gains an additional 20 Armor, for a total of 30 Armor.

The card artwork depicts a Dart Monkey pointing, appearing to teach the Clever Lead Bloon. The setting is at a technology laboratory, with many colored wires, walls and ceilings made from metal, and large tiles on the ground.

• Compared to a Lead Bloon, it costs 1 less Gold, has 60 less Health, and gains extra Armor if a Monkey was previously played. Its low Health and slow speed makes it not a good card without the bonus but usable with, being resistant against most sources of chip damage.
• With the bonus Armor, it cannot be damaged by the Barrel of Monkeys without buffs such as Gwendolin's Heat It Up or the Game Night effect. However, a Bomb Shooter can one-shot a Clever Lead outside of Dark Castle.
• Like all Clever Bloons, check the card history while playing the game to verify if your last played card was actually a Monkey.

Clever Lead has had its Clever Armor bonus increased from 10 to 20. This makes it generally a little more resilient; it lets it survive things like Alchemist puddles, taking no damage. Generally reduces chip damage from some higher damage stuff. [...] If it's buffed, it makes it better against stronger targets. Makes Clever Lead a little easier to actually take advantage of the huge amount of Armor it has now because, now, with the Clever bonus it has 30 Armor instead of 20, which is quite a lot.

Development

During the Version 5.2 playtest, Ninja Kiwi proposed a buff to Clever Lead Bloon by increasing its Health from 70 to 80, which was added to the update unchanged.

Version 6.4 buffed the Clever Lead Bloon with the reasoning being to make the Clever bonus more impactful as a way to block chip damage.
