This article is about Powers in the Bloons TD series. For the resource in Bloons Monkey City, see Power (BMC). For the type of card in Bloons Card Storm, see Power (BCS). For other uses, see Power (disambiguation).

Powers are a game mechanic in the Bloons TD series. They were first introduced in the multiplatform version of Bloons TD Battles, though similar mechanics also appear in Bloons TD 5, Bloons Monkey City, and Bloons TD Battles 2. They are consumable items with beneficial effects that, unlike towers and upgrades, cannot normally be purchased with cash.

Bloons TD Battles (multiplatform)

edit

Powers are split into five categories: Track Powers, Tower Powers, Bloon Powers, Sabotage Powers, and Eco Powers. Each category has one tier 1 Power that is unlocked by default and 12 unlockable Powers, split into three paths with four tiers. Each player can choose three Powers to bring into a game, and cannot choose more than one Power from a single category. Each Power has a limited number of uses, ranging from 1 to 20, and most Powers have a cooldown period after activation.

Bloons TD 6

edit

Unless restricted, the player can use Powers at any time by dragging them onto the map from the menu. The player can unlock permanent enhancements for certain Powers with Monkey Knowledge.

Powers are not usable in CHIMPS, the Challenge Editor and Map Editor's test mode, Race Events, Ranked Boss Bloon Events, or any challenge or Quest where the challenge rules prohibit Powers. In Contested Territory, Odyssey mode, and Rogue Legends, the player can only use equipped Powers.

Insta Monkeys

edit
Main article: Insta Monkey

Insta Monkeys are towers with pre-set upgrades that the player can obtain and deploy in the same way as Powers. They are classified as Powers and are restricted in modes where Powers are disabled, though individual Insta Monkeys are also disabled if their corresponding towers or upgrades are restricted by challenge rules.

Powers Pro

edit
Main article: Power Pro

Powers Pro are an enhanced version of Powers introduced in version 50.0. These feature improved versions of regular Powers with higher Monkey Money cost and can be upgraded after being placed by spending cash in a similar way to regular towers. They feature 3 paths with 3 upgrades each and cannot be crosspathed. As of version 50.0, only Banana Farmer and Super Monkey Storm have Pro versions: the Banana Farmer Pro and Super Monkey Beacon, respectively.

Bloons Adventure Time TD

edit

Like weapons, trinkets, and allies, powers are divided into tiers of rarity: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare, and Epic. Unlike other equipment, the tier only determines the cost of the power. Powers have a second attribute, internally referred to as "quality", which comes in three tiers: "Small", "Medium", and "Large". Most powers have a cooldown period, typically two to four minutes long, which limits how often they can be used. Additionally, many powers are duration-based and cannot be reactivated until the duration ends, even if the cooldown has already ended.

Obtaining Powers

edit

Bloons TD Battles (multiplatform)

edit
Tier XP cost
2 500
3 2,500
4 5,000
5 7,500

All tier 1 powers are unlocked by default. The player can unlock additional Powers by spending XP earned from completing games. Each Power category has its own XP, and the player can also use Universal XP to unlock any Power. Unlocking a tier 3 Power requires unlocking the tier 2 Power on that path first, and unlocking a tier 4 Power requires unlocking the tier 3 Power on that path.

Bloons TD 6

edit
Attack Best
  • Most Powers are purchasable with Monkey Money. The Battle Cat! and Sword of Protection Powers, introduced in version 46.0 and version 48.0 respectively, are only purchasable with Monkey Money in Bloons TD 6+ and Bloons TD 6 NETFLIX. In Bloons TD 6, they can only be bought with real money purchases from the shop. The only other way to obtain these is from certain Quests, which have a limited supply, or in Rogue Legends, where they do not carry over into the main game.
  • Powers are common rewards from Daily Rewards, Daily Challenges, Quests, achievements, events, and the Shop.
  • When the game rewards random Powers, it chooses from one of two "pools", internally named Attack and Best. The pool it chooses from is specified by the source's reward data, but is not indicated to the player. All Powers within a pool have an equal chance of being selected.
