Specialty Building

The editor who added this notice elaborates: Can you switch specialty buildings mid-game and gain the effects on the console version of Bloons TD 5? If a player in co-op disconnects on the Flash version, how do Specialty Buildings interact with newly-placed towers or towers that changed ownership?

Specialty Buildings (also referred to as Specialist Buildings in the mobile version) are a feature in Bloons TD 5 that provide special bonuses to a specific tower when enabled, at the cost of increasing the base cost and upgrade costs of another tower. They cost Monkey Money to build and upgrade, and have a total of 3Bloons TD 5 (Flash)

Bloons TD 5 (console) tiers. The first tier is always a discount for the tower's base cost and upgrade costs, the second is always a stat boost (usually attack speed), and the third and fourth tiers are unique.

Before purchasing any Specialty Buildings, the player is required to purchase the land for Specialty Buildings for  250 first. Each Specialty Building has a base purchase cost, which unlocks the first upgrade tier. Unlocking further upgrade tiers require spending additional Monkey Money to upgrade the building. There is one Specialty Building for every major tower except the Monkey Village and Banana Farm. The player can only select one Specialty Building at a time.

In singleplayer, the player can quit out of a game and change their selected Specialty Building, though this only updates reloaded saves in the mobile version. In the Flash version, reloading a save instead switches the player's active Specialty Building to the one that was selected when the save was created. In Co-op, each player has their own Specialty Building, though in the mobile version, each one only applies effects to the player that selected it (unless one player disconnects, in which case the other player will have both buildings active). In the Flash version, each player's Specialty Building applies to both players, but their effects do not stack if both players select the same one.
