Bloons are the main antagonists of the Bloons franchise, represented by balloons and blimps.
The term "bloon" is sometimes used for things that do not visually resemble a balloon or blimp, such as various bosses from Bloons Supermonkey 2 including the Yeti and Radadactyl Skeleton, provided that they still contain bloons inside that are released when popped.
Unlike the Monkeys, Bloons do not use currency.[1] Bloons are considered pranksters by the Monkeys, and have a tendency of following set lanes. They also possess their own language consisting of a mix between high pitched air sounds and squeaking. [2] Bloons care for their physical health, as they have Gyms that advertise Lead abs in 15 minutes a day, and also have Ceramic boot camps and fortified protein powders. [3]
Relations to monkeys
In some Quests, the Bloons have interacted with the Monkeys. They uphold a truce during the Bloons TD 6 Birthday Party Quest, demonstrating that they are definitely capable of kindness, and in the New Dart Just Dropped Quest, a Bloon helps the two Dartling Gunners raise money by sending more Bloons their way. However, when a Blog commenter asked NinjaKiwi what the Bloons do in their spare time, NinjaKiwi stated that they "prepare for more attacks on the Monkeys". In the Bloons series and Bloons Supermonkey series, Bloons are not seen directly attacking monkeys in a way that would harm them up until Helium Heights, where they utilize Bloptonite as a way of harming Supermonkey. The game over screen of Bloons Super Monkey depicts the Super Monkey's torn cape on a branch, although what happens with the Super Monkey himself is unclear. The Monkey in Hot Air Bloon rides a blimp, showing that a Monkey and a Bloon can coexist peacefully. In Bloons Pop!, Bloons are seen attacking the Monkey Town Hall, providing one of the few instances where their actual impact on the Monkeys is seen.
Categories of bloons
Bloons
Bloons, also classified as Basic Bloons in Bloons Card Storm, are the smallest type of bloon in the Bloons series. They resemble a balloon and are typically the weakest type of bloon in the series, possessing less health than MOAB-Class Bloons but usually moving faster than them. Because of this, bloons appear before MOABs make their first appearance. Bloons are vulnerable against many attacks and effects that MOAB-Class bloons are resistant or immune against.
MOAB-Class Bloons, classified as Large Bloons in Bloons Card Storm, are larger bloons that resemble blimps and possess greater health and size than a regular bloon, but with slower mobility. While they are typically resistant or immune against many attacks or effects, there are other attacks that are stronger or only have an effect against MOABs. The category is named after the MOAB, the first MOAB-Class Bloon introduced to the series and the most basic MOAB-Class Bloon in most games, although weakerMOAB-ClassBloons exist.
Boss Bloons are a subset of MOAB-Class bloons that typically possess special mechanics and even more health than the strongest MOABs before them. They are much larger and slower than a regular bloon, and are typically tied with a specific level or events.
Advanced Bloons
Advanced Bloons are a new category of Bloons introduced in Bloons Card Storm, typically classified by having a unique effect while not being a MOAB-Class bloon. The Ceramic and Rainbow Bloon lack a unique effect, instead being characterized by having above average health.
