Spa Pits is a Beginner map in Bloons TD 6, introduced in version 48.0. It is a spa-themed rendition of Tar Pits from Bloons TD 5, now set in a much more tropical environment with lots of palm trees and other plant life.

Layout

All of the main features of the original map are utilized in some way, but with several major changes: First, the five outer pits of tar are now pools of water that allow for much more water tower placement than the original map. Additionally, a new circular path around the center pool is incorporated into the track layout; the new layout has only one entrance and one exit, and it involves Bloons taking a full clockwise loop around each outer pool, with partial counterclockwise loops around the center pool in between. The five caves now function as line of sight blockers and the extra plant life blocks tower placement, but neither of these changes significantly increase the track's difficulty. There are also four additional entrances/exits that affect the Pre-Game Prep Monkey Knowledge point, but they are permanently inactive during normal gameplay.

Strategy

Spa Pits is fairly average in terms of difficulty among the Beginner maps, but it stands out due to most of the best tower space being occupied by water. As a result, water-based strategies are highly recommended, with global range towers also being a good alternative. With general guidelines, Spa Pits can be beaten with relative ease.

Note that this only applies to the map during normal gameplay.

Easter egg

The map also has a secret that allows it to return to its original Extreme form: By selecting the loose rocks that represent the four inactive entrances/exits, in the order indicated by nearby scratch marks on the rocks, a prompt will appear asking "Make map heaps harder?"; if confirmed, Spa Pits will return to its original Tar Pits iteration. This causes the path around the center pit to disappear, splitting the layout back into five small clockwise loops that are now utilized by all five entrances/exits. The five outer water pools also turn back into pitch black tar, becoming unusable for tower placement; any towers that were previously in the pools will automatically be sold. This secret can only be activated before any rounds are started.
