This is a settled discussion about changing something about Blooncyclopedia. Do not modify it.
Deadline: Friday, 29 May 2026 at 23:59 UTC
Outcome: 2–5, did not pass

I would like to propose the idea of allowing the creation of pages for widespread trends/memes that are related to the Bloons franchise. I think that their preservation is important and would be well received by the community. In my opinion the creation of 5 - 7 pages a year dedicated to memes/trends wouldn't pollute the Blooncyclopedia and it would even benefit from it. These pages would also provide a way for newer/causal players to quickly grasp what is currently going on in the community.

Support the idea of trend/meme preservation

  1. I think it's a good idea to have these pages so new players can get a quick explanation of these themes. Bloon (talk)
  2. I think there should be a page with all the memes/trends, I think this is okay because the strategy pages aren't official, and have some things made by bloons players, but what do I know, I'm a beginner wiki editor. 4D Hyper Glitch (talk)

Oppose it

  1. As much as I like memes and share them myself, I don't think this is the correct place to "preserve" them. This is a wiki dedicated to documenting the franchise, not necessarily its community and opening up community power like the Fandom wiki did would make this wiki so much less quality imo. We already have a reputation for being "empty but reliable", our problem we should be focusing on at the moment is making more reliable pages on the aspects of the franchise we haven't covered thoroughly yet. We shouldn't be swaying from our stated goal just to "be well received by the community". Also, what exactly counts as "widespread" anyways? Are we just going off of popularity on Reddit, what about other platforms? --Planterror (talk) 22:48, 15 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
  2. I don't think this is a good idea. This wiki's goal is for people to get questions answered or to provide documentation. Memes and trends do not do either of these things. It would also be way too much of a hassle to do and would divert time from the large amount of pages that are still bot generated or stubs. Overclockbtd (talk) 00:04, 16 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
  3. Fandom Bloons Wiki exists for collections of Bloons stuff. Qwertyxp2000 (talk) 03:21, 16 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
To elaborate, unless there's clarity to what counts as a notable meme/trend or not, I don't think it'll be easy to moderate what memes enter the memes/trends page(s), even with the influx of new editors. The amount of effort required to balance out what gets included or not can be tricky. I'm not going to strongly oppose a trends/memes page if there's a way to make it unambiguous what should be included or not, such as if Ninja Kiwi endorses a meme (and not just a moderator of r/btd6), but for now I will go Oppose. 4. Personally, I consider community-driven memes to be beyond the scope of the wiki's coverage. Topics like 2TC and NAPSFRILLS, which NK have officially endorsed (and, in the former's case, implemented into BTD6 via achievements), are one thing, though still somewhat of a grey area; memes, on the other hand, lend too much room for arbitrary decision-making regarding which ones are "notable enough". In the off-chance we decide to cover them, I think there should be a separate namespace for them as to avoid their mingling with official content. Humansongs (talk) 16:07, 16 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
  5. I don't think this is the place for memes at all Drgoku282 (talk) 16:28, 16 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

I don't know if User:Qwertyxp2000 has actually chose to oppose the proposal, due to not technically being in the numbered list as of writing, but he did suggest the Fandom Bloons Wiki due to its more relaxed editing standards allowing for nearly every editing style. However, many people refuse to have anything to do with the Fandom Bloons Wiki if there's already an independent Bloons wiki with strong community support, and still want it to cover community-based topics that are significant and a key to learning the Bloons community culture. In Fandom Bloons Wiki, I am specifically allowing for free adding of meme lists with minimal moderation to inclusion factors, and hoping that this experiment will allow us to see what we mustn't devolve into with inclusion of meme information. I did also write that a possible unambiguous inclusion factor could be to include Ninja_Kiwi-endorsed meme content, but I'll let the others decide what should be a hard unambiguous inclusion factor for memes/trends. How do you determine which memes are worth creating pages for? Polavux (talk) 04:23, 16 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

I am thinking of always allowing memes that are endorsed by Ninja Kiwi, and this is one of the hard inclusion factors that I think will work. As for any other factors for inclusion, I am not sure. Qwertyxp2000 (talk) 04:39, 16 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

I was thinking maybe one large page, or the pages should be labeled to have "(meme)" or something in their titles to avoid confusion. But now I think that one large one is maybe a better idea. Bloon (talk) 06:05, 16 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
