Cash in Bloons TD 6

Cash (also called money, especially prior to Bloons TD 4) is the main currency in the Bloons TD series and some spinoffs when playing a map. It is primarily used to buy towers and upgrades. Cash can be obtained through various means, but is usually gained by popping Bloons.

Cash is usually notated with the dollar sign ($), though in Bloons TD Battles 2, it is sometimes represented by an icon with a cent sign (¢).

Sources of cash

[edit | edit source]

Starting cash

[edit | edit source]

Starting cash is the amount of cash a player starts a game with. In most Bloons TD games, the player starts with $650, though some game modes alter this. In Bloons Monkey City, the player starts with $350, which increases by $100 per City Level gained, up to a maximum of $4,250.

Depending on the game, starting cash can be increased by some methods. In the multiplatform version and console version of Bloons TD 5, starting cash can be increased with the Monkey Lab to up to $1,050. In Bloons Monkey City, starting cash can be increased by an additional $250 with the Magic Coin Purse and Epic Magic Coin Purse. In Bloons TD 6, starting cash can be increased with the More Cash More Cash Monkey Knowledge. In Bloons Adventure Time TD, starting cash increases by $5 per rank, to up to $1,125 at rank 100.

Cash per pop

[edit | edit source]

In most games other than Bloons TD Battles and Bloons TD Battles 2, each layer of Bloon popped grants the player cash. This amount typically starts at $1 per layer, but starting in Bloons Tower Defense 3 Bloons popped in later rounds may grant less cash than usual.

Some towers and Heroes can also grant the player extra cash from popping Bloons; prior to Bloons TD 6 this is limited to the Monkey Town and Bloon Trap upgrades, but Bloons TD 6 also contains several other examples including the Pirate Lord's MOAB Takedown ability, the Bounty Hunter's Marked to Pop ability, and the Alchemist's Lead to Gold and Rubber to Gold upgrades. Lastly, Obyn Greenfoot's Wall of Trees ability can grant extra cash, functioning very similar to Bloon Traps. Benjamin's Bloon Trojan and Syphon Funding abilities can also grant extra cash, though these can instead lose cash if not used carefully.

End-of-round cash

[edit | edit source]

In most games other than Bloons TD Battles and Bloons TD Battles 2, players earn cash at the end of every round. In Bloons Tower Defense and Bloons Tower Defense 2, this amount starts at $100 and decreases by 1 every round; in Bloons Tower Defense 3 and later, it starts at $101 and increases by 1 every round.

Income

[edit | edit source]
Main article: Income

In Bloons TD Battles and Bloons TD Battles 2, cash is not normally gained by popping Bloons or at the end of each round. Instead, cash is gained at fixed intervals based on the player's income, which can be modified by using Bloon sends.

Selling

[edit | edit source]
Main article: Sell

Towers can be sold to return a portion of the total amount of cash spent on them. In Bloons TD 6, the Flash version of Bloons TD Battles, Bloons TD Battles 2, and Bloons Adventure Time TD, selling returns 70% of the total cash spent on a tower, while in all other games, selling returns 80%. Depending on the game, the sellback rate of towers can be increased with certain game mechanics, such as Monkey Knowledge in Bloons Monkey City or Monkey Tycoon in Bloons TD 4. The Rare Quincy Action Figure item sold by Geraldo can also effectively make money for the player by passively increasing its sellback value at the end of each round.
