Support Chinook is the Heli Pilot's path 1 tier 4 upgrade in Bloons TD 5. It unlocks two Activated Abilities for the Heli Pilot: the Redeploy ability, which allows it to pick up a tower and move it to a new position, and the Vital Supplies ability, which alternates between spawning a cash crate or a life crate each time the ability is activated. Its main attack and Downdraft attack are unchanged.

Redeploy

Redeploy allows the player to choose one tower on the map and drag it to a new position it can be placed on. In Co-op, the player can only select towers they control and can only reposition towers to their side of the map. The player cannot choose Banana Farms, Monkey Villages, or Temple Of The Monkey God. The chosen tower cannot be upgraded while the Support Chinook is moving towards it. The player cannot place a tower at the tower's original position or the destination until after it reaches the destination.

While in transit, the tower cannot be selected by the player (to sell it, change its targeting, etc), does not attack, and its Activated Abilities do not recharge, but its sub-towers act as normal. Since the flying units of Monkey Aces, Heli Pilots, and Radadactyls are sub-towers, repositioning their base towers does not affect their attacks or abilities.

This ability has a 60-second cooldown. The cooldown starts as soon as the player selects the ability, even before selecting a tower, and instantly resets if the player cancels the ability.

Vital Supplies

Vital Supplies spawns a collectable crate below it. It alternates between spawning a cash crate containing $1,500–$2,000 or a life crate containing 50–75 lives each time the ability is used. Each crate lasts for up to 10 seconds before expiring. It always spawns a cash crate the first time after reloading a saved game. This ability has a 60-second cooldown.

Errors

Crash bug

If a Support Chinook is carrying a tower or moving towards a tower to redeploy it, and that tower disappears, the game crashes. This is possible if the tower is sold before being picked up, or if another mechanic causes it to disappear before or while being carried:

Repositioning terrain Special Agents bug

If a Support Chinook repositions a Portable Lake or Pontoon, the terrain it creates does not move with it. It still behaves as terrain created by that Agent, so the Agent cannot be sold if a tower is placed on the disembodied terrain and the terrain disappears if the Agent is removed.

Repositioning buffed towers bug

A tower buffed by the crucibles on The Crucible or the thrones on Over-Throne retains its buff if repositioned by a Support Chinook.
