Bloons TD Battles is a game in the Bloons TD series that released in 2012. It is based on the Flash version of Bloons TD 5 and shares many of the same assets and mechanics. It is the basis of the multiplatform version of Bloons TD Battles and the first game in the Bloons TD Battles sub-series. It debuted in a beta test in early December 2012, and left beta later in December.

On 1 April 2022, Ninja Kiwi announced the end of service for several Flash games. Despite not being one of the games listed in the announcement, the servers for this game were shut down on 30 April 2022, rendering the game's online features inaccessible. Some main menu features, such as the store, remain functional.

On 21 May 2025, Bloons TD Battles was removed from the Ninja Kiwi Archive with no official announcement, rendering the program inaccessible through legitimate means (though the online servers had been offline for years before its removal).

Gameplay

In this version of Bloons TD Battles, each player has four tower slots by default. Each player is required to spend Battle Energy to start a match, which slowly refills over time at a rate of  1 every 12 minutes and has a maximum of  50 by default. Players can also purchase items in the store to refill their Battle Energy and/or permanently increase their maximum Battle Energy. Entering a battle costs  5, unlocking the Extra Tower Slot to use five towers in a match costs  6, and using the Spy Ability to see the opponent's loadout before the match starts costs  1.

Rounds in Bloons TD Battles use the even-numbered rounds from BTD5, with a few differences:

• Round 12 is based on round 25 in BTD5 instead of round 24.
• Round 43 is based on round 85 in BTD5 instead of round 86.
• All Bloon groups within each round have their starting time and duration reduced by 34%, effectively making rounds progress over 50% faster than in BTD5.

Chat

This version has a text-based chat system similar to Co-op in the Flash version of Bloons TD 5. Typing -ping or /ping in chat displays the time (in milliseconds) for the server to respond.

Leaderboards

This version has a Battle Score leaderboard that ranks players who earn the most Battle Score of the day, week, or month, or of all time. Due to the servers being shut down, players can no longer legitimately rank on this leaderboard, though it still displays scores from before the shutdown.
