Range is a fundemental stat that defines the area in which a Tower will detect bloons or other towers for the purposes of doing a certain action. All towers have range which is determined by some modifiers.

Range is a property of a tower in the Bloons TD that determines the distance from which it can perform certain actions. Usually, the range of a tower determines the distance that its attack(s) can detect Bloons from, but depending on the tower, it may represent other mechanics, such as the area the tower provides buffs from or spawns collectables inside. The range of a tower is visually displayed as a circle around it, where the radius of the circle is equal to its range in distance units, which varies between games.

Before BTD3,range was determined only by the tower and its upgrades, with the addition of the Monkey Beacon in Bloons TD 3 now external factors such as other towers could affect a monkeys range. The addition of premium upgrades in Bloons TD 4,Premium Buildings in Bloons TD 5 and Monkey Knowledge in Bloons Monkey City, gave option to new  modifiers which modified range in all sessions, external to a session itself.
Some towers have multiple range stats, either because they have multiple attacks that each have a different range stat (such as Inferno Ring, which has both a close-range attack and an infinite-range attack) or because they represent different mechanics (such as Primary Expertise, which has both a limited buffing range and an infinite-range attack). Most towers only display one circle representing their range (or a "dummy range", such as Sniper Monkeys and Monkey Aces), though some towers display multiple range circles, such as the Desperado when upgraded to Deadeye or Enforcer.

Currently in Bloons TD 6 range is determined by:Towers type,Upgrades,Monkey Knowledge,Artifacts,Obstacles and Relics.
Prior to Bloons Tower Defense 3, a tower's range was determined solely by its base range and any range modifiers from upgrades, and only represented its attack range. BTD3 introduced the Monkey Beacon, a tower that modifies the range of other towers within its range, and its range represents its buffing radius instead of its attack range. In some games, external range modifiers (such as buffs, Specialty Buildings in Bloons TD 5, and equipment in Bloons Adventure Time TD) behave differently from range modifiers provided by upgrades.

...<!---Expand here on standard range and how it works--->
Uses of range
Attack range
Most towers' attacks have a range stat that determines the distance they can target Bloons from the center-point of the tower. Starting in Bloons TD 6, range may be obstructed by objects on the map that block the tower's line of sight, unless the attack ignores blockers or ejects from high enough to pass over them.

There are also non-standard types of range as written out below:
Some attacks have infinite range and can detect Bloons from any distance, provided their line of sight is not obstructed. Many Activated Abilities have infinite range (or spawn a projectile with a large enough radius to cover the entire screen) regardless of the range of the base tower.
Infinite Range
Some towers will detect in indefinite range, though some do have some limits:
Buffing range
*Sniper Monkey, has infinite range though in BTD 6 generation games is limited by obstacles.
Some towers provide buffs to other towers that are within their range. These towers are unaffected by line of sight.
*Monkey Aces, the dart attack of Aircraft Carrier Aces and Dartling Gunner technically have infinite range, being only limited by projectile lifespan. With dartling gunners also being limited by obstacles.

The below have true infinite range, not being able to be modified by anything.
Collectable range
*Psi and Mortar Monkey are the only  towers with true infinite range without upgrades,Mortar causes explosion directly at the target location and Psi shoots at bloons no matter location.
A few towers, such as the Banana Farm and Banana Farmer, use range to represent the distance they can spawn or collect collectables from. These towers are unaffected by line of sight.
*The active ability of First Strike Capability and the passive ability of Pre-emptive strike will be shot at target no matter location and hit.

*The active of Glue Striker will hit everything on screen with no exception.
Display range
*The Active of Ground Zero and Tsar Bomba will hit everything on screen with no exception.
Some towers display a small range circle (sometimes unofficially called a "dummy range") that does not represent a real attack or mechanic of the tower, and is only used for Advanced Intel. Towers that use display range instead of their actual range include:
*The Bomber Ace missiles will be shot at and hit moabs no matter location
*Towers that have infinite range with their main attack, such as Sniper Monkeys and Psi.
*The hooks of Monkey Pirates,Pirate Lord and Myrkul will hook Moabs no matter location.
*Towers that attack at regular intervals without requiring a target, such as Monkey Aces, Mortar Monkeys, and Dartling Gunners.
*The fireballs of Inferno Ring will be shot at and hit target no matter location.
*Towers that do not use range at all, such as BMO in Bloons Adventure Time TD.
*The bombs of Spectre will be shot at target no matter location.
*The Beast Handler's display range in Bloons TD 6 represents the range it can merge Beasts from.
*The mega ballista attack of Primary Expertise will be shot at target no matter location.

Dummy Range
List of external range modifiers
Dummy Range is range with no action assinged to it.Dummy range is given to towers with unconventional ranges for the general purpose of providing extra range for the Advanced Intel upgrade, dummy ranged monkeys are as follows and are as such for the following reasons:
Bloons Tower Defense 3
*Sniper Monkey (BTD6),has infinite range though in BTD 6 generation games is limited by obstacles.
*Monkey Beacon
*Psi and Mortar Monkey are the only towers with true infinite range.

*Monkey Aces and Dartling Gunner technically have infinite range, being only limited by projectile lifespan. With dartling gunners also being limited by obstacles.
Bloons TD 4
*The helipads of Heli Pilots also have dummy range, though the actual helicopter does have normal range.
*Crystal Ball
Multiple Range
*Digital Amplification
Some towers have more then one range, with each range correspending to a diffirent action.
*Monkey Beacon
