Bloons TD Battles is a title shared by the Flash version of Bloons TD Battles and the mobile version of Bloons TD Battles, two games in the Bloons TD series. These games are based heavily on Bloons TD 5 and share the same general gameplay and mechanics, as well as most towers, upgrade, and Bloons. The Flash version is based on the Flash version of Bloons TD 5, while the mobile version is based on the mobile version of Bloons TD 5. The mobile version has almost all of the content in the Flash version, as well as several exclusive towers, maps, game modes, and a new game mechanic called Powers. Unlike BTD5, these games are competitive multiplayer games where two players face against each other on opposite sides of the maps and win by letting the opponent run out of lives.
A sequel titled Bloons TD Battles 2 was released in 2021. Similar to how Bloons TD Battles is heavily based on Bloons TD 5, Bloons TD Battles 2 is heavily based on its sequel, Bloons TD 6.
Gameplay
Bloons TD Battles has very similar gameplay to Bloons TD 5, but with modifications. The game is played with two players who control opposite sides of a symmetrical map, and can spend cash to place and upgrade towers to defend against waves of Bloons. Each side has its own paths and Bloon waves, and the first player to run out of lives by letting Bloons escape loses. Unlike in other Bloons TD games, popping Bloons does not generate cash by normal means. Each player has an income stat that generates cash every 6 seconds. Players can increase their income stat to generate more cash, though the way to increase income depends on the game mode.
Before a match, each player chooses a loadout of towers they can use during a game. Playing matches increases the player's Battle Score and earns Medallions, which can be used to unlock more towers and higher-tier upgrades to use during matches.
There are two main game modes: Assault and Defense (or "Defend" in the Flash version). In Assault mode, each player can spend cash on Bloon sends to send additional Bloons to the opponent's side and increase their income. In Defense mode, players cannot send their own Bloons, but can still generate income by spending cash on Income Boosts. In the mobile version, there are other modes and rulesets, such as Card Battles, but they are treated as variants of one of these two modes.
