The Monkey Village is a tower that debuted in the Bloons TD series. It debuted in Bloons Tower Defense 3 as the Monkey Beacon before being renamed and redesigned to the Monkey Village in Bloons TD 5. They It is a wooden hut (a grey satellite dish as the Monkey Beacon) that provides support to other monkeys in battle by providing them with stat buffs.

Despite being called "villages", Monkey Villages are usually depicted as a single building with no visible occupants. Similar-looking huts have appeared as background details in some Bloons games, such as on the main menus of Bloons TD 5 and Bloons TD 6, but they are not explicitly identified as Monkey Villages. One such hut appears as a decorative item in Bloons Pop! under the name "Monkey House", supporting this distinction.

Gameplay

Initially called the Monkey Beacon in Bloons Tower Defense 3 and Bloons TD 4, it is a tower that does not attack, instead providing buffs to other towers within its range. In Bloons TD 5, Bloons TD Battles, and Bloons Monkey City, the unupgraded Monkey Village provides a discount, while in all of its other appearances, the unupgraded Monkey Beacon/Village provides a range buff. It can be upgraded to provide other buffs and benefits; in Bloons TD 5, the range buff from its other appearances is named "Monkey Beacon" after the Monkey Village's previous name. In Bloons Monkey City, the Monkey Village also appears as a Monkey Building under the same name. In BTD6 and Battles 2, it is classified as a Support tower.

In Bloons Tower Defense 3 and Bloons TD 4. its final upgrade calls the Super Monkey Storm, wiping every non-MOAB-Class Bloon off the screen for a somewhat hefty price (with a cooldown in BTD4, making it a precursor to the Activated Ability mechanic). The Super Monkey Storm would return, separate from the Monkey Village, in Bloons TD 5 and 6 as a Special Agent and Power, respectively. Bloons TD 6 features the Super Monkey Beacon, a Power Pro variant of that game's Super Monkey Storm, Monkey Village's old name.

"Village" is a Monkey type shared by two Support-class cards, including the basic Monkey Village. All Villages are unable to attack, but provide buffs to other Monkeys adjacent to them.

Lore

  • When Monkey Villages are sold, they are packed up and shipped back home[1] or re-kitted for the next battle.[2]
  • When asked about the insides of Monkey Villages, Dr. Monkey "talked for hours about tardises [and] the space-time continuum", implying that they are bigger on the inside. The appearance of the insides change to reflect each upgrade.[3]
