Alchemists (Alchemist Monkeys in Bloons Card Storm) are monkeys that specialize in creating chemicals and potions with a variety of effects. They can use acidic and volatile compounds as weapons against Bloons, potions that transform Bloons, and potions that empower other monkeys. The Alchemist was introduced with the launch of Bloons TD 6.

Gameplay

[edit | edit source]

Alchemists are Magic towers that attack Bloons by throwing flasks of acid that splash on contact, inflicting damage over time to Bloons in a small radius, and they have the innate ability to throw over line of sight blockers. Their upgrades allow them to produce other brews, such as potions that buff other nearby towers, chemicals that make MOAB-Class Bloons explode when they pop, potions that transform towers into monsters with laser vision, chemicals that transmute Bloons into gold to make them generate more cash, and shrink potions that can turn MOAB-Class Bloons into Red Bloons.

For more gameplay information on this subject:

"Alchemist" is a Monkey type introduced in version 4.0, shared by six Magic-class cards, including the basic Alchemist Monkey. All Alchemist cards are Magic-class, and many of them have effects that involve Acid Pools or buffing other Monkeys.

Other appearances

[edit | edit source]

While the Alchemist isn't directly represented in Bloons Adventure Time TD, Dr Monkey functions largely similarly to the tower, including carrying over some of its debuff powers such as turning Bloons to gold.

The Alchemist was considered to appear in Bloons Pop!, but was cut from the final game.[1]

Physical appearance

[edit | edit source]
All of the Alchemist's crosspaths in BTD6

Alchemists are monkeys with orange skin, dark orange fur, and heads of pointed hair. The basic Alchemist wears a purple overcoat with yellow trims and rolled-up sleeves, as well as cup goggles with yellow frames and purple lenses, which it wears above its eyes. In BTD6 and Battles 2, the overcoat is buttonless, while in Bloons Card Storm, it has a single clasp. Its acid is red and contained in small glass flasks, which are corked in-game, but uncorked in its artwork. Its upgrades change its appearance:

  • Larger Potions adds a brown leather backpack. Its potions are larger and have a rubber band around the neck.
  • Acidic Mixture Dip attaches a small keg of a green liquid to the side of its backpack.
  • Berserker Brew replaces the backpack with a large wooden barrel and changes the color of its robes and goggles to orange. It administers brews with a wooden spoon in its left hand (though its portrait holds it in its right hand).
  • Stronger Stimulant adds a second barrel, a chimney between the barrels that emits purple smoke, a brown leather aviator cap, bushy sideburns under its cap, and an X-shaped scar between its eyes. It uses a metal spoon instead of a wooden spoon.
  • Permanent Brew increases the size of its barrels and chimney, removes the aviator cap, and gives it larger hair, a beard, and a mustache. It uses a wooden mug instead of a spoon.
  • Stronger Acid adds white surgical gloves and changes the color of its acid to purple.
  • Perishing Potions adds a black face mask and changes the color of its gloves to black.
  • Unstable Concoction replaces its cup goggles and mask with large cover goggles that it wears over its eyes, replaces its purple overcoat with a white lab coat with gold trims that covers its arms and tail, and adds black shoes. It wields much larger bottles of chemicals with metal casings.
  • Transforming Tonic gives it a crazed look. It has disheveled hair, and fangs, its lab coat is unbuttoned and tattered, and it wears its goggles above its eyes, revealing its pink irises and blinded left eye. While transformed, it loses its clothes, has blue fur, magenta skin, pink eyes, and overgrown hands and fur, and it shoots blue lasers from its eyes.
  • Total Transformation changes its fur and skin color to match its transformed state, but it keeps its tattered coat and goggles.
  • Faster Throwing replaces its cup goggles with cover goggles with a large pink lens.
  • Acid Pool replaces its overcoat with a purple suit with gold trims around the wrists and ankles, changes the lens color of its goggles to blue, and adds a belt with a pouch on the left side and pouches with smaller potions on the strap of its goggles.
  • Lead to Gold replaces its goggles with a visor with a black lens, adds golden cuffs around its wrists, and changes its suit and visor color to black. This is the basis of the Lead to Gold Monkey's design in BCS, though the Lead to Gold Monkey has a different hairstyle.
  • Rubber to Gold changes its outfit entirely, giving it a black brimmed hat, a black jumpsuit, a larger black jacket with gold trims and a potion belt, black shoes, and golden cuffs with red jewels. Its visor is replaced with goggles again, which it wears over its hat, but it now has a golden lens.
  • Bloon Master Alchemist changes the color of its jumpsuit to yellow, its jacket to beige, its shoes to red, and gives it a brimmed crown made of gold and jewels, a red cape with a golden trim, and sunglasses with large round lenses.
