Bloons Festive Fun is a mobile game in the Bloons series that was first announced on the Ninja Kiwi Blog on 9th of November 2009.[3] It is based on the iOS version of Bloons, but features different Christmas-themed content and the Reindeer Bloon (a reskin of the Chomper Bloon). The game was first released on December 2009, delisted on January 2010, relisted on December 2010, and delisted again on January 2011, never to be release again.

The iOS version is 32-bit and thus, most devices cannot run it, as the game does not run on iOS 11 and above. Despite this, the game was actually delisted before this became relevant because of the game's holiday theme.

Gameplay

Bloons Festive Fun follows the puzzle conventions established in previous games: the player controls a monkey that must pop a certain amount of Bloons with a limited amount of darts. This monkey can aim darts in any direction, and darts can be thrown with more power, letting them travel faster and further. The game features the same mechanics, obstacles, and bloons as Even More Bloons. Unlike Bloons iOS, this game includes the Chomper Bloon, now reskinned as the Reindeer Bloon, which must be controlled by swiping the screen in the four cardinal directions. This means that unlike the flash version of Bloons and More Bloons, the monkey can throw darts rapidly, which is a mandatory mechanic for some levels.

Every day starting from the 1st of December 2009, each day unlocks a set of 3 levels, with the previous days staying unlocked, culminating in the final set of levels unlocking on the 31st of December 2009 for a total of 31 days and 93 levels. After that day, all levels are permanently unlocked, resulting in anyone playing Bloons Festive Fun now having all levels available without modifying the date. Levels are completed in order, as beating a level unlocks the next level, but the player can start playing through different days without needing full completion of the previous days. Unlike other Bloons games, there is a Christmas scene, represented by the Monkey's house. Completing each day will add a new decoration to the room, determined by which day the player completes.

Differences from the iOS version of Bloons

  • Some Bloons are reskinned and had their descriptions changed to match the holiday theme. Similar reskins for the Tack Bloon, Boomerang Bloon, and Bomb Bloon appear in Bloons 2 Christmas Expansion.
    • The Tack Bloon is renamed to the Holly Bloon and shoots holly leaves instead of tacks.
    • The Boomerang Bloon is renamed to the Candy Cane Bloon.
    • The Spikey Ball Bloon is renamed to the Christmas Pudding Bloon and replaces the spikey ball with an "overcooked christmas pudding".
    • The Light Sabre Bloon is renamed to the Christmas Toy Bloon, though its description still calls it a light sabre.
    • The Bomb Bloon is renamed to the Bauble Bloon.
  • The background music has been replaced with a royalty-free cover of "Jingle Bells" by Felipe Vassão.[4]
