Monkey Buccaneers are monkey pirates that attack Bloons from a boat equipped with dart-firing cannons on either side. They were introduced in Bloons TD 4 and have appeared in all mainline Bloons TD titles since.
Gameplay
editThe Monkey Buccaneer is a water-based tower that fires heavy darts from one of its cannons. In Bloons TD 6 and Battles 2, if a Bloon is in the line of sight for both cannons, they both fire at the respective Bloons simultaneously.
In Bloons TD 4, the Monkey Buccaneer is the only tower that can be placed on the newly-introduced water tiles. Its ultimate upgrade is the Battleship, which makes the Monkey Buccaneer shoot thrice as fast.
In Bloons TD 5, both upgrade paths focus on damage. Its top path focuses on fast, ultimately map-wide damage while its bottom path focuses on popping almost all types of Bloon and instantly destroying MOAB-Class Bloons. Its Specialty Building in BTD5 is the Pirate Cove, while its main buildings in Bloons Monkey City are the Port and the Ship's Foundry.
In Bloons TD 6 and Battles 2, it is classified as a Military-class tower. Alongside some slightly reshuffled versions of its BTD5 paths, it gains a third path focusing on generating cash every round and maximizing income from other Buccaneers on the same path.

Other appearances
editAlthough the Buccaneer is absent from Bloons Adventure Time TD, the character Captain Cassie is a monkey pirate captain with a similar gameplay style and upgrades to the tower.
In Bloons Card Storm, a Monkey Buccaneer appears in the card art of the ZOMG. Two boats that resemble Favored Trades and Crow's Nest appear on the city portion of the title screen art.
General information

editThe base Monkey Buccaneer is depicted as a monkey with brown fur, tan skin and brown eyes wearing a black pirate's hat with a white skull insignia residing inside a small brown wooden boat fitted with two black cannons. In its BTD4 and BTD5 generation sprites (and its portrait in the multiplatform version of Bloons TD 5) depict it with a black eyepatch over its left eye, and in BTD4 its base ship is large with two white sails hoisted.
Lore
edit- They do not sell lemonade, at least while fighting.[1] This implies they do so in their off-time.
