Terminology
edit- Bloon type
- Leak
- Pop
- Popping power
- In the mobile versions of Bloons TD 5, Bloons TD Battles, and Bloons Monkey City, this refers to the limit to the number of Bloons a single projectile, area of effect, or other entity can collide with (whereas "pierce" is specific to projectiles). This term appears in other games, but it has no particular meaning and is simply used to vaguely indicate how effective something is at popping Bloons.
- Upgrade path
- Upgrade tier
Jargon
edit- Generation
- A group of games in the series with a shared art style, very similar gameplay, and reused assets. The most common groupings are:
- Generation I: Bloons Tower Defense, Bloons Tower Defense 2, Bloons Tower Defense 3
- Generation II: Bloons TD 4
- Generation III: Bloons TD 5, Bloons TD Battles, Bloons Monkey City
- Generation IV: Bloons TD 6, Bloons Adventure Time TD, Bloons TD Battles 2
- Micro
- Short for micromanagement, meaning manually and precisely controlling something to maximize its effectiveness (such as aiming Dartling Gunners or switching the flight paths of Monkey Aces to pop specific Bloons).
- NAPS / NAPSFRILLS
- Short for "No Agents, Premiums, or Specialties" for the former and "No Agents, Premiums, Specialties, Farming, Road Items, Lives Lost, or Selling" for the latter. These refer to two popular kinds of self-imposed challenges in Bloons TD 5 similar to CHIMPS in Bloons TD 6. This challenge is referenced in Bloons TD 6 by the achievement Nah, I'd Win.
- Regrow farm
- A setup that allows Regrow Bloons to regenerate and multiply, while repeatedly getting sent backwards, to create an infinite loop of popping Bloon layers within a single round. The practical applications of regrow farming depends on the game. This term is sometimes used more generally when a player allows Regrow Bloons to multiply a lot, deliberately or otherwise, without necessarily creating an infinite loop.
- Stepping stone
- True expert
- An Expert map in Bloons TD 6 that is considerably more difficult than the majority of Expert maps in the game, akin to Extreme maps in previous games. There is no consensus of what maps are considered true expert, but #Ouch, Quad, Ravine, and Bloody Puddles are usually included, and Muddy Puddles and Dark Dungeons are infrequently included as well.
