I'm hubianzhen. (Yes, it's that person, again.) It's a pleasure to meet you! ;)
My personal experiences with Blooncyclopedia
(seriously I need to update this, it's been a while...)
I've actually created my wiki account when Blooncyclopedia was all the rage from that one post in r/btd6. But, my time with the wiki dates far, far before then.
I've been up to nearly every piece of news of the early development on this wiki. po●la●vux left the Fandom Bloons Wiki began work on a non-Fandom Bloons wiki back in the northern summer of 2023. It was a very bold move at the time, as no one else had the will, time, resources, technical skills, and combined manpower to fork the wiki elsewhere. The migration would have been far too risky anyway without direct Ninja Kiwi support, yet no one at Ninja Kiwi were willing to support the wiki on their end either. Yet for this wiki, we now have a decent-sized community with people who are much more avid at supporting the wiki than people at the Fandom one. It's safe to say that this move is now paying off appreciably.
polavux started with the small things: adding ALL the stats (including projectile sizes, speeds, and lifespans, which the Fandom Bloons wiki almost never elaborates on); reorganizing the infoboxes, ledes, and the general layout from scratch; and showing a few of the things he's been working on to fellow wiki editors. It was a nice breath of fresh air when one began to see all of the content being reimagined in a way that makes the important details more visible. As a (mainly) template designer of the Fandom Bloons Wiki myself, I thought the pace at which polavux works on the non-Fandom Bloons wiki would completely overshadow every wiki editor's work (except maybe Qwertyxp2000's). I also became unmotivated to work at the Fandom Bloons Wiki for a while while anticipating for the release of the non-Fandom wiki, and only fixed templates and add other things that could be genuinely useful but the non-Fandom wiki would most likely not include. Seeing as a lot of my work at the Fandom Bloons Wiki was making templates specialized for certain games and general page cleanup, I hoped my contributions weren't completely in vain if polavux did take a page or two from them.
Fast forward to June 2024, polavux probably noticed my interest at the wiki he's working on, and asked me if I want to get a link to it. I accepted, and then I got to be among the first people to learn the wiki's title and freely access the wiki. At first, there was just polavux as the editor, so I chose to leave the wiki alone for a while to see what direction he will take it towards. He seemed to work much faster here than I have ever seen him elsewhere, and even did some of the extremely technical stuff like CSS and Lua modules. I guess he's edited wikis like TCRF (which does have some quality standards) back in 2020, which was before I came to the wiki editing scene with the Fandom Bloons Wiki as my first wiki in 2021. What's more important is he's well-versed with Adobe Flash and programming in general, the latter of which I was strongly familiar with, but couldn't quite fully master for whatever reason. Nonetheless, the way Blooncyclopedia was built made it a great learning experience for wiki management, and it would be tremendously helpful for the few wiki projects I manage, even if they're on Fandom. It also helped that Blooncyclopedia had more defined and stringent yet easy-to-understand policies and guidelines so I would have an example to follow.
(saving this page for now so I can finish it later and not worry about losing it)
