"Caught exception of type Error"

When attempting to edit certain pages, such as Adora (BTD6) and Rosalia (BTD6), I get an error saying "Caught exception of type Error". This only happens when trying to edit visually, and not when trying to edit the source. Is this a problem on my side, or a general page/wiki error? Zipso (talk) 11:31, 3 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

The issue happens on pages that use cargo queries to generate galleries (on those pages, it's for listing the skins). I'm trying to find out why newer versions of mediawiki have that issue, but in the meantime, you can fix it by adding subst: before the template name (ex. replace {{BTD6 hero skin list by hero|Rosalia}} with {{subst:BTD6 hero skin list by hero|Rosalia}}). polavux 11:50, 3 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

creating 'Unlock by Pops' page

I am currently trying to create a page for the "unlock by pops" or "giftbox" tab in btd6, the method used to unlock desperado, dartling gunner, mermonkey, and beast handler. there is surprisingly little documentation on how to get pops and though i am attempting to get some research in place for the tab I am unable to create a page to document the findings. Could anybody with more authority help me in making a page for this purpose? FrigidLoam19 (talk) 19:20, 16 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

You need to become Autoconfirmed before you can make pages.
@Qwertyxp2000 was supposed to be making that page already, but abandoned it after a few weeks. if you want, I can move their page to your sandbox space so you can keep working on it. Planterror (talk) 20:05, 16 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
I would appeciate looking that over. I dont have very much experience in wiki editing so i may comment in here for advice on what to do. FrigidLoam19 (talk) 20:29, 16 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
It's done. You can find the page on User:FrigidLoam19/Gift Box. Planterror (talk) 20:32, 16 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
I've made a few additions to the page. I was wondering if you (or anyone else) may be able to assist me in adding images to the page? I have collected a number of images as a way to cite my research, but as i am not an autoconfirmed user i cannot add nor upload images to the page. I can be reached to exchange the images through discord, my username being "foamyloam" and my PFP being a picture of Melony from Pokemon. FrigidLoam19 (talk) 22:41, 16 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Join the Discord Server. Link is on the left hand side on the community tab.

It's gonna be a bit tricky to actually get files from your PC to us, because most modern services including Discord love to compress images really badly in order to save space. It would be ideal if you can work towards the Autoconfirmed status and upload them yourself. For now, make sure everything on that page is up to date, maybe touch up some other pages, and then Special:Upload will be waiting. Planterror (talk) 23:29, 16 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Understood, I can try and get that autoconfirmed status then. thank you very much for the assistance. FrigidLoam19 (talk) 23:33, 16 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yeah sure you may use my page. Imo if i was in your position then i would just make my own page instead of moving it from mine, but I'm fine either way. Qwertyxp2000 (talk) 23:47, 16 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
yeah, i tried making my own at first but because i wasnt autoconfirmed i had to ask someone else to make it for me. best way that happened was by letting me add onto your page instead.
Honestly the way you started the page was a really good jumping off point for me- ive been so engrossed in the statistics of the gift box menu i dont think i would have made as nearly a succinct description of the topic. FrigidLoam19 (talk) 23:51, 16 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough. I realised the autoconfirm requirement, but yeah, also the Sandbox is a great place if you wanna experiment! :) You've done well with improving from where I started. Qwertyxp2000 (talk) 23:58, 16 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

I attempted to create a page about the currently popular flag meme, but it got deleted for "page created by troll", which is rude and goes against your statement in the about page: "Blooncyclopedia is an online knowledge base dedicated to documenting anything and everything about Ninja Kiwi's Bloons franchise." Memes are a part of a franchise, like it or not, so I thought it would be a welcome addition. Also an image file I uploaded to use on that page also got deleted for "stolen image uploaded without attribution" when I clearly stated the author in the file information. Please reevaluate the deletions. Thank you. Bloon (talk) 18:24, 15 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

I already discussed this with staff. The reason the patroller gave for marking the image and page for deletion was wrong and they should've assumed good faith per the code of conduct, so I apologize on their behalf. However, I don't agree with memes being part of the franchise, because they aren't official. By that logic, every fan game, fan art, let's play, custom map, and post on r/btd6 is "part of the franchise".
Right now the only unofficial content we cover are certain self-imposed challenges that have some kind of official acknowledgement (e.g., NAPS). If you want to expand that, I would suggest creating a proposal. Polavux (talk) 18:37, 15 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I would agree with Polavux's reasoning. It can be difficult to differentiate someone who started editing a wiki with a gray area topic from someone who created their account just to cause damage or disruption. Even though this wiki usually documents official content, it may also open up to documenting officially acknowledged community content that is very significant in some way. Some may get their own articles, while some are sufficient enough to be a trivia entry. Hubianzhen (talk) 19:12, 15 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

That's not an excuse for calling someone a troll, though. That's why we have a code of conduct. Polavux (talk) 19:16, 15 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's a misunderstanding. Hubianzhen (talk) 19:28, 15 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
There was no proper justification, just confusion. We did not know how to handle situations like this effectively. If you believed I made an excuse, you have my permission to issue me a warning. Hubianzhen (talk) 19:45, 15 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
What do you mean "we"? You're not staff. Yes, it was a misunderstanding, but even in that situation there was no reason to assume this person was a troll. Polavux (talk) 20:02, 15 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
The people involved in the situation, not just staff alone. Should've made it clear. Hubianzhen (talk) 20:08, 15 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
