Forum:Stop using "the" when referring to BCS Bloons and Monkeys
| This is a settled discussion about changing something about Blooncyclopedia. Do not modify it. Deadline: Thursday, 9 October 2025 at 23:59 UTC Outcome: 4-1-0-0 in favor of option A |
So, currently, this wiki refers to all bloon and monkey cards in Bloons Card Storm with the definite article ("The Robo Monkey is a Magic Monkey card", "The Buddy Bloon is an Advanced Bloon card", etc), but does not for power cards (e.g., "Bloonsday Device is an Exotic Power card"). Originally this was only weird for Triple Shot, Glaive Ricochet, Bouncing Bullet, and maybe Bionic Boomerang (e.g., "The Triple Shot is a Primary Monkey card"), and since Ninja Kiwi is historically not very good at keeping names consistent, I thought those could've been written off as a few outliers and I was expecting them to fix these at some point (like how they renamed Boomerang to Boomerang Monkey when the game launched). However, now that version 4.0 added Berserker Brew and version 6.0 is going to add Bloon Impact and Even More Tacks, it seems like monkeys with these kinds of names are here to stay. This is less of an issue for bloon cards, though it is a little weird for The Eternal and now The Regenerator, which already have "the" in the name.
What I'm proposing is to remove the definite article from the first sentence of these pages (e.g., change "The Robo Monkey is a Magic Monkey card" to "Robo Monkey is a Magic Monkey card"), and also to stop doing this in other article text (like tips sections). It would be less clunky for the aforementioned bloon and monkey cards, and be more consistent with how the wiki refers to power cards. The other option is to stop doing this for the outliers only (Triple Shot, Glaive Ricochet, Bouncing Bullet, Bionic Boomerang, Berserker Brew, Bloon Impact, Even More Tacks, The Eternal, and The Regenerator), though I personally prefer using consistent grammar for all cards.
Stop using definite articles for both bloon and monkey cards
- My preference, as described in the proposal. Polavux (talk)
- Unless the Bloon or Monkey does start with "The", I don't see a reason to add "The" at the beginning of the the subjects for Bloons and Monkeys. It's just not necessary imo. People can perfectly understand the article without those unneeded "the"/"a" articles. Plus, subjects that actually start with those articles can actually make sense. - This just makes more sense Pixelentropy (talk) 13:33, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- Wait, you guys were using "The"?, from other card games, I've never seen people calling them "the [card name]" so this makes sense. Drgoku282 (talk) 19:30, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
