Berserker Brew is a Magic Monkey card in Bloons Card Storm, introduced in version 4.0. When played, a menu prompts the player to select a friendly Monkey other than itself that has an ATK stat, granting it +20 ATK and 3 Temporary Ammo, but causes the target to be Doomed.
The card artwork depicts a Berserker Brew Alchemist sitting at a campfire with a Wizard Monkey (with their BCS design) during dusk. Both of them sit on a log, each with a mug of brew. The Alchemist raises their mug with their left hand while grinning gleefully, while the Wizard Monkey holds the mug with both hands and is surprised by the effects of the brew.
- Berserker Brew is most often used for expensive emergency defense when added onto a friendly attacking Monkey that can be safely removed. Time at a round when the big burst of damage is necessary, and use up all ammo if possible. Once depleted, the buffed Monkey is often replaced with another Monkey, since its Doomed status prevents long-term use, leaving an open space at the start of next turn.
- A buffed Frag Bomb Shooter can be used to clean up massive hordes of enemy Bloons, or a Missile Launcher can be used to take out lots of high health threats.
- Cheap expendable Monkeys such as Barrel of Monkeys are helpful for simply having a usable Monkey present to enable Berserker Brew's effects.
- When using Berserker Brew's On Play, the target having full ammo is preferred, as the ordinary ammo will also receive the extra damage. However, using on a Monkey that is currently on cooldown is not much of a loss.
- Berserker Brew can be combined with reload cards such as Quick Reload, Orders Received, and Ghost Monkey, to maximize ammo and the damage buff. Likewise for Temporary Ammo such as Extra Shot Bloon or Ezili's Totem. Use these cards after the brew and finishing all the target's ammo first.
- Equipping multiple Berserker Brews can be helpful to improve consistency of the bursts of damage. Using multiple in a turn is situational (with 18+ Gold, all three can be used), and if doing so then target the same Monkey more than once for the most damage.
- Like Zee Jay's Stylish Finish, the Doomed status can be used to open up an Expert Negotiator next turn, as the Monkey that is Doomed will open up a Monkey slot.
- Against Dreadbloon, it is an effective way to deal lots of damage in a single turn, provided at least one other attacking Monkey is present.
- This Alchemist itself has only reasonable damage for 1 delay, equal to a Monkey Investigator with 5 less ATK. It alone (after buffing another Monkey, otherwise it's inefficient) is still a reliable long-term Monkey versus Dreadbloon, and, notably, two shots are enough to pop a non-Armored Rock Bloon, where Striker Jones's Ammo Stores ensures that each round. However, at 30 ATK, it's vulnerable to Bed Time.
- Its 6 Gold cost allows it to "protect" some Monkeys (notably Missile Launcher) from computer opponents using removals, which prioritize the most expensive Monkeys, and any Dreadbloon Skulls involving removing the most expensive Monkeys.
Description now uses the abbreviation "ATK" instead of "AP"
Added Temporary Ammo keyword
Gold cost reduced ― 8 → 6
Now displays the Doomed keyword
During the Version 5.2 playtest, Ninja Kiwi proposed a buff to Berserker Brew by decreasing its Gold cost from 8 to 6, which was left unchanged for the update.
