On the Flash version of Bloons Monkey City, the Semi Auto can be considered an unorthodox and expensive Ceramic Bloon stripper on tile capturing, only requiring Full Metal Jacket on the other path to deal with all but the densest Ceramic rushes and allow for other towers to clean up a much weaker bloon threat. Once spaced MOABs spawn, this can similarly be used to break them open by purchasing Point Five Oh. Its main weakness is Ceramic and MOAB rushes, as it can only target one Bloon at a time; however, by the time these rushes become a threat, a player can afford more defenses to take care of them.
On the mobile version of Bloons Monkey City, spamming base Bloonchippers outclass the Semi Automatic Rifle, as Bloonchippers easily stall and shred the ceramic layers for much cheaper.
