Mermonkeys. No Mere Monkeys is a Tale Quest in Bloons TD 6, introduced in version 44.0. It consists of two challenges that act as tutorials for Mermonkeys, which the player can use in this Quest without unlocking first. It features dialogue from Patch and Scoop.

Patch with the Knowledge

Patch with the Knowledge takes place in Luminous Cove. There are two pre-placed 0-0-0 Mermonkeys. The player cannot upgrade, sell, or change the targeting options of the pre-placed Mermonkeys.

  • After round 1, the bottom Mermonkey is upgraded to 0-3-0.
  • After round 2, the top Mermonkey is upgraded to 3-0-2, and a third Mermonkey is placed below it.
  • After round 3, the third Mermonkey is upgraded to 0-0-3.
  • After round 4, the player can place additonal Mermonkeys, limited to tier 3 upgrades.

Scoop with the Fieldwork takes place in Peninsula. In this part, there are 8 preplaced towers: 3-0-0 Mermonkey, 0-3-0 Mermonkey, 0-0-3 Mermonkey, 0-3-0 Sniper Monkey, 0-0-0 Heli Pilot, 2-0-0 Monkey Sub, 2-0-0 Monkey Sub, 4-0-0 Monkey Buccaneer. Selling these towers gives 0 cash.

At the start of Patch with the Knowledge

Mermonkeys! Most Monkeys only know about them from after school cartoons and story books, but here they are in real life!
Patch
What I can tell you is that they can go on land or water, but they see much farther when placed on water. They're certainly more at home there.
Patch
Their tridents look sharp which should make them good against grouped Bloons. Let's see if that theory holds any water!
After starting round 2
Patch
That Mermonkey just upgraded to Tier 3 on the middle path!
Patch
I can feel the chill in the air! Their tridents now have an icy, magical aura. The tridents will freeze Bloons and a magical wave grows as the projectile travels.

This is quite exciting! I want to see if the wave breaks when it gets too big or something.
During round 2
Patch
You could surf on those waves! Amazing!
After starting round 3
Patch
Woah! That Mermonkey just called a monster up from the depths! Those are some slimy looking tentacles. My PhD in Abyssal Creature Biology is being put to good use!
Patch
From the 8 tentacles I can tell each one independently targets Bloons in front of them. They'll slam down in a 360 degree ring dealing massive damage. This means the creature's power can be maximized when surrounded by Bloons.
Patch
That Mermonkey has upgrades from the bottom path too, so it can see Camo Bloons. That's lucky, as a Camo rush is about to come out.
After starting round 4
Patch
Another Tier 3! This time on the bottom path. That Mermonkey will produce a melody when Bloons are nearby, entrancing them into a spiral so other Monkeys can target them.

At higher levels the Mermonkey will be able to project the sound through a magic conch, moving the center of the trance if they wish.

Scoop with the Fieldwork originally required beating Round 100, as seen in the quest's guide video (specifically, timestamp 7:48) from Punji, which was played on an early access build. Due to this, it was possible to see Scoop's dialogue for when a BAD spawns.
