Version 4.1 is the first major update to the mobile version of Bloons TD Battles of 2017. It introduced Private Match codes, Clan improvements, and balance changes.

Changes

[edit | edit source]
The Dart Monkey is one of the most popular towers in the game with extremely high use-rates, but we think it has a little too much value for the low cost - especially in the early game. This change should help with this and encourage players to consider other options.
— Update notes
Tiers Changes
2-X Enhanced Eyesight
  • Nerf Upgrade cost increased ― $120 → $160
4-X Juggernaut
  • Nerf Upgrade cost increased ― $1,750 → $1,900
X-3 Triple Darts
  • Nerf Upgrade cost increased ― $400 → $500
X-4 Super Monkey Fan Club
  • Nerf Ability: duration reduced ― 15s → 11s
It's no secret that the Ninja is a powerful tower in the mid-late game, but it can struggle to cope with the early grouped bloons as it can be easily overwhelmed. These price changes should allow players to place other towers in support of the Ninja, or even multiple of the same tower.
— Update notes
Tiers Changes
2-X Sharp Shurikens
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $300 → $250
3-X Double Shot
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $850 → $550
X-2 Distraction
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $500 → $400
We see the Bomb Tower in some of the lower arenas, but it's rarely spotted out-with a random roll in Ceramic Crucible and above. We're hoping that a price reduction and an increase in the Moab Mauler attack speed will see more Bombs in higher stake games!
— Update notes
Tiers Changes
3-X Cluster Bombs
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $800 → $700
4-X Bloon Impact
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $4,000 → $3,600
X-3 MOAB Mauler
X-4 MOAB Assassin
  • Buff Attack cooldown reduced ― 1.171s → 0.937s
The Glaive Lord is a relatively common upgrade to see on the battlefield but it's[sic] second upgrade path severely lacks in camo detection. Giving Turbo Charge the ability to detect camo bloons when active should help us see more souped-up glaives flying across the arenas!
— Update notes
Tiers Changes
1-X Multi-Target
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $250 → $175
X-1 Sonic Boom
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $100 → $50
X-4 Turbo Charge
  • Buff Ability: now also grants Camo detection while active
Again, this is a relatively uncommon tower in the higher end arenas. These reductions should make it a more viable option for early lead and camo-lead popping power!
— Update notes
Tiers Changes
1-X Intense Magic
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $300 → $200
X-1 Fireball
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $300 → $200
X-2 Monkey Sense
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $300 → $250
X-3 Dragon's Breath
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $3,200 → $2,600
X-4 Summon Phoenix
  • Buff Phoenix: now deals +1 damage to MOAB-Class Bloons
The poor Glue Gunner is very rarely used outwith R3 games, so a vast price reduction of, perhaps its most useful upgrade, will hopefully see the tower included in more loadouts!
— Update notes
Tiers Changes
X-2 Glue Splatter
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $1,500 → $900
The Mortar is a useful tower, but perhaps not quite valuable enough in its current form to take up a tower slot. A big buff in it's[sic] blast radius and some sizable reductions in upgrade costs will hopefully change that.
— Update notes
Tiers Changes
0-0 base tower
1-X Increased Accuracy
X-1 Rapid Reload and further upgrades
  • Buff Blast radius increased ― 75 units → 86.25 units
2-X Bigger Blast
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $600 → $400
  • Buff Blast radius increased ― 100 units → 115 units
    • Note: Does not affect higher tiers
4-X The Big One
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $10,000 → $6,000
X-4 Artillery Battery
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $9,000 → $7,000
The sheer cost of the Heli-Pilot[sic] meant that it was rarely used in non-late-game matches. Reducing its base cost and halving the price of camo detection should make it a more viable option.
— Update notes
Tiers Changes
0-0 base tower
  • Buff Cost reduced ― $1,500 → $1,200
X-1 Bigger Jets
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $500 → $250
X-2 Enhanced IFR Instruments
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $600 → $300
The Engineer is a good tower with decent use rates, but we hope to encourage players to use the Overclock ability rather than the (more popular) Bloontrap[sic] with this change.
— Update notes
Tiers Changes
X-4 Overclock
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $11,000 → $7,500
The 'Chipper has become a staple in a lot of high-end load-outs with it's[sic] Supa-Vac ability being super effective in dealing with MOAB class rushes. We found this to be a little too reliable, causing a lot of games to become a bit of a stalemate. Changing the ability and the Super Wide Funnel so they no longer affect ZOMGs should encourage players to explore other options!
— Update notes
Tiers Changes
4-X Super Wide Funnel
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $8,000 → $7,000
4-X Super Wide Funnel
X-4 Supa-Vac
  • Nerf No longer affects ZOMGs
X-4 Supa-Vac
  • Buff Upgrade cost reduced ― $13,000 → $10,000
