Build №1766
Steam20 August 2025[1]

Version 5.2 is the second minor update to Bloons Card Storm v5.0. It introduces many balance changes.

Changes

[edit | edit source]
Striker has been suffering in this meta because his Bloontonium generation is so slow. This change was intended to go live in 5.0 but we got it in eventually!
— Update notes
  • Buff Target Focus: Bloontonium penalty for sending own Bloons reduced ― -2 → -1
Significant nerfs for Blooming Bloon and Precursor.
— Update notes
Card Changes
Blooming Bloon
  • Nerf Gold cost increased ― 3 → 4
  • Buff Bloontonium gain increased ― 3 → 4
  • Nerf Health reduced ― 90 → 80
Precursor Bloon
  • Nerf Charges reduced ― 2 → 1
The Clever Green and Yellow cards were designed to incentivise mixed Bloon+Monkey deck building but are a little too high on the power curve so they are being tweaked back, while Clever Lead gets a slight buff.
— Update notes
Card Changes
Clever Yellow Bloon
  • Nerf Health reduced ― 120 → 110
  • Nerf On Play heal to Hero reduced ― 80 → 70
Clever Green Bloon
  • Nerf Gold cost increased ― 2 → 3
  • Buff Bloontonium gain increased ― 2 → 3
Clever Lead Bloon
  • Buff Health increased ― 70 → 80
Buffs for Double Lead Bloon and Extractor Bloon, which gains a shield.
— Update notes
Card Changes
Double Lead Bloon
  • Buff Health increased ― 100 → 130
Extractor Bloon
  • Buff Now starts with 50 Shield
Target Practice Blimp
  • Nerf Health reduced ― 220 → 200
Barrel of Monkeys is a super strong early game card that just provides too much value and the pay-off of occupying board space does not offset this enough. We’ve gone to 4 charges but also considered 3 charges.
— Update notes
Card Changes
Barrel of Monkeys
  • Nerf Charges reduced ― 5 → 4
Berserker Brew is too expensive to see much or any use, so we’re bringing that cost right down. Dark Champion has gotten a slight ATK buff.
— Update notes
Card Changes
Berserker Brew
  • Buff Gold cost reduced ― 8 → 6
Dark Champion
  • Buff ATK increased ― 90 → 100
Sharpened Darts is good when played early but awkward late on. We’ve lowered the cost to help get it down sooner.
— Update notes
Card Changes
Sharpened Darts Lab
  • Buff Gold cost reduced ― 2 → 1
Shell Shock Mortar has a powerful effect but just isn’t hitting hard enough so we’ve bumped its ATK up.
— Update notes
Card Changes
Shell Shock Mortar
  • Buff ATK increased ― 40 → 60
Bomb Shooter is a simple Monkey designed to challenge Lead Bloons but its DPT was fairly low.
— Update notes
Card Changes
Bomb Shooter
  • Buff ATK increased ― 75 → 80
    • Also affects Bomb Bloon
Heart of Vengeance suffers from being expensive to get on board in order to start scaling. Lowering its cost significantly but also reducing Ammo.
— Update notes
Card Changes
Heart of Vengeance Druid
  • Buff Gold cost reduced ― 5 → 3
  • Nerf Ammo reduced ― 3 → 2
Bloon Master Alchemist’s effect is incredibly powerful, but we’ve also been seeing his ongoing value with the Strong Acid Pools to be very strong. So we’ve increased his reload.
— Update notes
Card Changes
Bloon Master Alchemist
  • Nerf Reload increased ― 1 → 2
Robo Monkey has been performing extremely well, warping the meta single-handedly. With 3 ammo AND double attack, Robo received buffs just too well. We’ve dropped it to 2 ammo but buffed its ATK to make up for some of the loss, nerfing overall.
— Update notes
Card Changes
Robo Monkey
  • Nerf Ammo reduced ― 3 → 2
  • Buff ATK increased ― 40 → 50
Tack Sprayer was clearly outperforming Elite Defender as a defender, so we’ve reworked their numbers slightly here to even that out a bit. Tack should still be very useable while Elite should feel like a better Defender now.
— Update notes
Card Changes
Tack Sprayer
  • Nerf Ammo reduced ― 4 → 3
  • Buff ATK increased ― 25 → 30
  • Buff Defender bonus increased ― +15 → +20
Elite Defender
  • Buff Ammo increased ― 3 → 4
  • Nerf ATK reduced ― 50 → 35
Dark Champions that have been sent packing by Adora (or other removal effects) no longer retain their aura (just not cool anymore). Super Monkey Fan Club and Marketplace’s effects had a similar issue and were also fixed!
— Update notes
Card Changes
Dark Champion / Super Monkey Fan Club / Marketplace
  • Nerf Global aura buffs no longer retain their auras when affected Monkey(s) in their interaction(s) is removed (bug fix)
MOAB Eliminator
  • Buff Now destroys Large Bloons regardless of Armor and/or Shield (bug fix)
Blade Maelstrom / Dire Wolf
  • Buff Attacking now removes Armor from the target when buffed by Armor Piercing (bug fix)
Push the Initiative as a hero specific card wasn’t doing enough so we are lowering the cost to help it out. Zany Juice is a powerful buff that helps push ZJ over the edge, so we’re pulling that power back slightly. Still very strong, especially on multi-attack or multi-charge Bloons!
— Update notes
Card Changes
Push the Initiative
  • Buff Gold cost reduced ― 3 → 2
Zany Juice
  • Nerf Health buff reduced ― +50 → +35

Other changes and bug fixes

[edit | edit source]
  • Buff Striker's Adventure now grants a Starter Item at the start of the campaign again (bug fix)
  • Armor Piercing description changed ― "Hit Bloons lose all Armor" → "Targeted damaged Bloon loses all Armor"
  • Muting emotes now actually mutes emotes (bug fix)
  • Added more stats in the Player Stats page

Introduced bugs

[edit | edit source]
  • Emotes no longer play audio if the player plays their own Hero's Emotes (bug)

3 October 2025 reupload

[edit | edit source]

On 3 October 2025[2], Ninja Kiwi released an update to Bloons Card Storm to patch a security flaw[3] in applications running Unity 2017.1 and later for Android, Windows, and macOS.[4] This update has the same version number and build number.

Development

[edit | edit source]

The balance changes for this update were playtested by certain community members. The results for the testing were approved to be disclosed by Corey after the update released,[5] and were shared on the Competitive Card Storm community Discord server.[6]

  • Clever Yellow Bloon: Ninja Kiwi proposed its Health to be nerfed to 100 but was changed to 110.
  • Clever Blue Bloon: Ninja Kiwi proposed nerfs (Health: 45 → 40, Clever effect's damage: 50 → 40) but were all reverted
  • Robo Monkey: proposed by the community to only lose the 3rd ammo, however Ninja Kiwi added the bonus ATK buff.
  • Dark Champion: proposed to cost 11 Gold and deal 100 ATK, with only the latter kept.
  • Taunting Bloon: Ninja Kiwi had proposed a nerf to 2 charges, but was reverted
  • Barrel of Monkeys: playtested with 3 charges, but quickly reverted to 4 charges after testing.
  • Shell Shock Mortar: proposed 50 ATK by Ninja Kiwi, but after a round of testing Ninja Kiwi raised it to 60.
  • Zany Juice: The first nerf was proposed to reduce effect to +40 Health, but community feedback increased the nerf to +35 Health.
  • Bomb Shooter: proposed rework with reduced ATK (75 → 55) but reduced delay (3 → 2), but community feedback changed it to only buff its ATK to 80.
  • Tack Sprayer and Elite Defender reworks were designed by the community in an effort to nerf Tack Sprayer but buff Elite Defender.

The following were other balance changes proposed by the community that were implemented exactly as designed:
