The card artwork portrays a trick-or-treat night at a residential neighborhood, with a monkey dressed as a Red Bloon scaring another monkey dressed as a vampire, who is crying. Four gold coins are discarded to the air.
Fright Night costing Bloontonium to steal Gold makes it stand out in aggro decks, which typically gain a steady production of Bloontonium primarily from Bloons. Stealing Gold prevents the opponent from countering with a strong card while storing Gold as a saveup.
As a Common, it's easy to unlock and use for new players.

Initially, Fright Night was proposed by community playtesters to be reworked to cost 7 Bloontonium instead of 9 but steal only 2 Gold instead of 4.[1] This change was reverted by Ninja Kiwi for unknown reasons,[1] despite Fright Night being a banned card in the Ninja Kiwi official sponsored tournament hosted several months before then.[1]
This balance change returned for Version 6.4 but with the cost being 8 Bloontonium instead.[2] The main reason was to limit the swing of this Bloontonium power but make it a bit easier to afford; it still retains the swing but is less immediately impactful for winning the game, especially in aggro.[2] Tests for the original proposal were performed by community testers, but found that increasing it to 8 will prevent Player 2 on Turn 3 from playing Fright Night outside of Bloontonium Refinery and Player 1 on Turn 2 in Bloontonium Refinery, to improve Player 1 vs 2 dynamics.[3]
