In Bloons TD 4 and its ports, the Spike Factory is unlocked from the start of the game in later releases. It generates Road Spikes every round, which disappear after the round ends.
In Bloons TD 5, Bloons TD 5 Deluxe, Bloons TD 5 (mobile), Bloons TD Battles (mobile), and Bloons Monkey City, the Spike Factory returns. It does not make a debut in the initial release of the Flash version, but does so in other games. Its top path increases the power of its spikes, and can convert them into spiked balls or mines. Its bottom path reduces its cooldown, and can deal more MOAB-class damage and produce a storm of spikes all over the track. Spikes last for a limited time or for one round, whichever comes first.
In Bloons TD 6 and Bloons TD Battles 2, the Spike Factory is classified as a Support tower. Its top path upgrades and middle path upgrades are mostly the same, while its bottom path further increases the length spikes stay on the track.
Other appearances
- Spike Storm! is a card in Bloons Card Storm.
- While not specifically a Spike Factory, Dirt Beer Guy from Bloons Adventure Time TD has an identical method of attack to the Spike Factory.
General information
Physical appearance
The Spike Factory's base form is portrayed as a white machine with four yellow nodes propping it up, a vent on its right side, a black logo on its front depicting three spikes inside a circle, and a hole on top in which the spikes get launched through.
Despite not looking like it supports monkey input, there are at least two monkeys required to operate the Spike Factory: it has been confirmed by Ninja Kiwi that there is a monkey inside the machine[1] and the Fill 'er up Idle Animation from Bloons TD Battles 2 shows an Engineer Monkey filling the machine with spikes.
