Buddy Bloon is an Advanced Blooncard in Bloons Card Storm. It starts with 150 Shield and reduces the Attack Power of the opponent's Monkey with the highest Attack Power to zero when it is played. The Attack Power reduction persists until the Buddy Bloon or the affected Monkey is removed. If multiple Monkeys have the same Attack Power, it chooses the first placed Monkey. Any secondary damage effects that are dependent on the target's ATK stat (e.g. Triple Shot's Splash Damage) will also deal zero damage. It will not negate secondary damage effects written only on the card (e.g. Blade Maelstrom's On Turn End, Bouncing Bullet's bounces). It does not negate indirect damage effects, including On Fire (namely from Burny Stuff Mortar) and Acid Pool (e.g. Alchemist Monkey), as well as Armor Piercing.
Freeing the neutralized Monkey via popping the Buddy Bloon is difficult without the support of Powers or other Monkeys. Unless it can surely be popped within 3 turns, focusing damage on it is useless.
Towers affected by Buddy Bloon can be affected by Bed Time. This combo is more expensive than Shrink and costs two cards to do, so it generally is not worth considering.
Buddy is best used for countering high damage Monkeys in the early game. Targeting something like a Sniper Monkey, Super Monkey, Frag Bomb Shooter or Robo Monkey earlier on can harm opponent defenses by making strong, more expensive cards functionally useless for a while.
If the opponent tries to rely on a Defender to damage Bloons after their turn, Buddy Bloon can be used to negate it (provided it's the highest ATK Monkey), and also waste its ammo.
There are two ways to reliably neutralize a Buddy Bloon: Overload (destroys 100 or less HP bloon, ignoring Shield) or Energy Overload (destroys shielded bloon). Shields Down! can also be used to break its shield.
Description now uses the abbreviation "ATK" instead of "Attack Power"
Development
This card existed in the data of Bloons Card Storm since the Firstlook test, and was originally named "Friendly Bloon", though it went unused until the full release. The full release changed its properties, and likely changed its name to avoid confusion (as "friendly Bloon" is also a term used in card text for any Bloon with the same owner).
