Lead Bloons are Bloons with shells made of lead, a type of armor that resists damage, especially from sharp projectiles but not heated shots or explosives. They are usually on the same rank as Zebra Bloons, being below Rainbow Bloons but above Black Bloons, White Bloons, and Purple Bloons.

Gameplay

Lead Bloons typically appear in middle early-game rounds. They are immune to sharp projectiles, usually immune to blowback, but are vulnerable to hot or explosive shots, and split into two Black Bloons when popped. Lead Bloons usually have no parent, but are a parent of certain Bloons including Bloonarius. Starting from Bloons TD 5, certain attacks that normally can't pop Lead are able to do so with buffs, such as Monkey Intelligence Bureau, and since Bloons TD 6 with Bloon debuffs such as Embrittlement. In Bloons TD 6, Bloons TD Battles 2, and Bloons Adventure Time TD, they can be Fortified Bloons, which greatly increases their health.

Characteristics

Lead Bloons are Bloons with a shell made of gray-colored metal, creating a dull clanking noise when struck. In Bloons Tower Defense 2 and Bloons Tower Defense 3, the shell has no particular pattern, but starting in Bloons TD 4, the shell has thick lines separating metal pieces in the Flash version, or dark gray dots in the mobile version. In Bloons TD 5 onwards, the Lead Bloon is consistently made of separate metal pieces placed together with tiny screws.

The sound for the noise for a Lead Bloon's immunity noise varies from games. Prior to BTD5, it uses the same sound as the Metal Block from the first generation Bloons. In BTD5, Battles, BMC, and BSM2, its noise changed to a high-pitched "tink". In BTD6 onwards, it's changed to a low-pitched "plink". The onomatopoeia for the noise varies with games.
