Star level is a game mechanic for characters in Bloons Adventure Time TD. By spending character resources, the player can increase the level of characters to unlock permanent enhancements, access to more upgrades, and additional trinket and ally slots. All characters start at star level 1 and can level up to star level 10, with the cost increasing as they gain levels.

Star level bonuses

  • Levels 2, 4, 6, 8, and 9 unlock a permanent bonus for one of the character's stats.
  • Levels 3, 5, and 7 unlock a new upgrade (or two upgrades in the case of Hunter Marceline at level 3).
  • Levels 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, and 10 unlock a trinket slot.
  • Levels 3, 5, and 10 unlock an ally slot.
  • Level 10 unlocks a bonus unique to that character.

Level Effect
2 Explosion radius (including the secondary explosions from Double Bomb and Bouncing Bomb) increases by 2 units. Has no effect after upgrading to Bigger Bombs, which always sets the radius to 23 units.
3 Unlocks Double Bomb.
4 Attack cooldown reduces by 0.1 seconds, effectively increasing attack speed by ~7.14%. Has no effect after upgrading to Attack Speed, which always sets the cooldown to 1.3 seconds.
5 Unlocks Burny Stuff.
6 Range increases by 2 units. Stacks additively with Long Range Bombs.
7 Unlocks MOAB Assassin.
8 Explosion radius (including secondary explosions) increases by 2 units (4 units overall). Has no effect after upgrading to Bigger Bombs.
9 Attack cooldown reduces by 0.1 seconds (0.2 seconds overall), effectively increasing attack speed by ~7.69%. The Attack Speed upgrade no longer increases attack speed because his base cooldown now matches its set cooldown.
10 Explosions deal Explosion/Normal-type damage (including secondary explosions), allowing them to damage all Bloon types.

2 Bomb attack cooldown reduces by 0.1 seconds, effectively increasing its attack speed by ~7.69%. Applies before Privateer's cooldown modifier.
3 Unlocks Broadside.
4 Blast radius of bombs and Broadside bombs increases by 2 units. Has no effect after upgrading to Heavy Duty Ammo, which always sets the radius to 20 units.
5 Unlocks Bloon Pillage.
6 Range increases by 4 units.
7 Unlocks MOAB Takedown.
8 Bomb attack cooldown reduces by 0.2 seconds (0.3 seconds overall), effectively increasing its attack speed by ~18.2%. Applies before Privateer's cooldown modifier.
9 Blast radius of bombs and Broadside bombs increases by 2 units (4 units overall). Has no effect after upgrading to Heavy Duty Ammo.
10 Adds two uses of the Pirate Crew that do not take up an ally slot. Pirate Crew allies are free.

2 Range increases by 1 unit. Stacks additively with Sonar Array and Enhanced Tactical Radar.
3 Unlocks Bloontonium Tips.
4 Main attack pierce increases by 1.
5 Unlocks Sidewinder Strike.

8 Main attack pierce increases by 1 (2 overall).
9 Range increases by 2 units (3 overall). Stacks additively with Sonar Array and Enhanced Tactical Radar.
10 Starts with two M.A.F. planes when placed, which have the same properties and are also affected by Sidewinder Strike. M.A.F. and Arms Race still add two planes each.

Flame Slap's splash radius increases by 1 unit per star level.

3 Unlocks True Warrior.
4 Sword attack pierce increases by 1. Stacks additively with Savage Strength.
5 Unlocks One-Two Combo.
6 Sword attack cooldown reduces by 0.1 seconds, effectively increasing its attack speed by ~11.1%. Stacks additively with Adrenaline Boost.
7 Unlocks Inferno.
8 Sword attack range increases by 3 units (5 units overall). Stacks additively with Skilled Swordsmanship.
9 Sword attack pierce increases by 2 (3 overall). Stacks additively with Savage Strength.
10 Gains a ranged sword-throwing attack with the same pierce, attack cooldown, and damage as his main attack, but with 10 more range. It is affected by pierce, cooldown, damage, and range stat modifiers (from equipment, upgrades, etc) in the same way as his main attack. This attack is not considered a "main attack".

Flying Kick's attack cooldown reduces by 0.1 seconds per star level.

3 Unlocks Flying Kick.
4 Sword attack pierce increases by 2.
5 Unlocks Finn of Fury.
6 Range increases by 5.
7 Unlocks Big Hearted Hero.
8 Sword attack pierce increases by 2 (4 overall).
9 Sword attack cooldown reduces by 0.1 seconds (0.2 seconds overall), effectively increasing its attack speed by 12.5%. Applies before Radder, Faster! and Raddest, Fastest!'s cooldown multipliers.
10 Sword attack base damage increases by 1 and damage to MOAB-Class Bloons increases by 3. Stacks additively with Slicer and MOAB Ripper.
Level Effect
2 Range increases by 2 units. Does not affect Fire Sword, Flame Thrower (unless upgraded to Heat Ray), or Elemental Transform's swiping attack.
3 Unlocks Heat Sense.
4 Range increases by 2 units (4 units overall). Stacks additively with Heat Sense. Does not affect Fire Sword, Flame Thrower (without Heat Ray), or Elemental Transform's swiping attack.
5 Unlocks Heat Ray.
6 Fireball pierce increases by 2. Has no effect after upgrading to Bigger Blaze, which always sets the pierce to 8.
7 Unlocks Elemental Transform.
8 Range increases by 2 units (6 units overall). Stacks additively with Heat Sense. Does not affect Fire Sword, Flame Thrower (without Heat Ray), or Elemental Transform's swiping attack.
9 Fireball attack cooldown reduces by 0.2 seconds, increasing its overall attack speed by ~36%.
10 Fireball attack now shoots two fireballs at a time instead of one, spread 45° apart from each other.

2 Stake pierce increases by 1. Has no effect after upgrading to Smart Stakes, which always sets the pierce to 8.
3 Unlocks Straight Flight Path and Circular Flight Path.
4 Stake projectile speed increases by 5%, but lifespan reduces by 5%, so the maximum travel distance remains the same.
5 Unlocks Enhanced Bombs.
6 Stake turning speed increases by 20%.
7 Unlocks Feast of The Damned.
8 Stake projectile speed increases by 10% (15% overall), but lifespan reduces by 10% (15% overall).
9 Stake pierce increases by 2 (3 overall). Has no effect after upgrading to Smart Stakes.
10 Stakes spawn four spliter projectiles, spread 90° apart from each other, each time they hit a Bloon. They have 2 pierce and deal 1 sharp-type damage. Their pierce and base damage cannot be increased, but other projectile modifiers from buffs and trinkets (increased projectile radius, added status effects, damage bonuses against specific Bloons, etc) still apply. They can hit Camo Bloons even if the main projectiles do not have Camo detection.

2 Freeze attack cooldown reduces by 0.1 seconds, effectively increasing its attack speed by ~4.35%.
3 Unlocks Hail Storm.
4 Freeze attack cooldown reduces by 0.1 seconds (0.2 seconds overall), effectively increasing its attack speed by ~4.54%.
5 Unlocks Monsters Of Snow.
6 Range increases by 2 units and freeze attack radius increases by 2 units.
7 Unlocks Big Freeze.
8 Freeze attack cooldown reduces by 0.1 seconds (0.3 seconds overall), effectively increasing its attack speed by ~4.76%.
9 Freeze attack cooldown reduces by 0.1 seconds (0.4 seconds overall), effectively increasing its attack speed by 5%.
10 Adds the normal damage type to all attacks and allows them to target White Bloons and Zebra Bloons (including the Snow Monsters).
Level Effect
2 Attack cooldown reduces by 0.1 seconds, effectively increasing his attack speed by ~9.1%. Applies before Jake of All Trades's cooldown multiplier.
3 Unlocks Harmful If Swallowed.
4 Knife hand, slap, Mace Hand, Axe Foot, and Butt Push pierce increases by 1. Slap pierce stacks additively with Big Jake Slap.
5 Unlocks Be Calmed By My Saliva.
6 Range increases by 3 units. Stacks additively with Jake of All Trades. Has no effect on Be Calmed By My Saliva's range.
7 Unlocks Jake Suit.
8 Knife hand, slap, Mace Hand, Axe Foot, and Butt Push pierce increases by 1 (2 overall). Slap pierce stacks additively with Big Jake Slap.
9 Attack cooldown reduces by 0.1 seconds (0.2 seconds overall), effectively increasing his attack speed by 10%. Applies before Jake of All Trades's cooldown multiplier.
10 Starts with Mace Hand and Axe Foot for free when placed.

2 Attack cooldown reduces by 0.1 seconds, effectively increasing his attack speed by ~5.5%. Stacks additively with Greased Runners and Insta-Reload.
3 Unlocks Double Shot.
4 Range increases by 2 units.
5 Unlocks Keep Rolling.
6 Projectile speed increases by 15%. Stacks multiplicatively with Tightened Springs and Reinforced Ratchets. Does not affect Keep Rolling or Spiky Chaos.
7 Unlocks Spiky Chaos.
8 Attack cooldown reduces by 0.1 seconds (0.2 seconds overall), effectively increasing his attack speed by ~5.88%. Stacks additively with Greased Runners and Insta-Reload. Does not affect Keep Rolling or Spiky Chaos.
9 Range increases by 2 units (4 units overall). Affects Keep Rolling.
10 Base damage increases by 1 and damage to Fortified Bloons increases by 17. Does not affect Keep Rolling or Spiky Chaos.
Level Effect
2 Swiping attack pierce increases by 2. Has no effect when transformed into a bat. Necromancy now spawns four skeletons instead of three.
3 Unlocks Eating Red. Necromancy now spawns five skeletons.
4 Amp range increases by 3 units.
5 Unlocks Improved Necromancy.
6 Swiping attack cooldown reduces by 0.2 seconds, effectively increasing its attack speed by ~25%. Applies before Ferocity's cooldown multiplier. Has no effect when transformed into a bat.
7 Unlocks Pyrokinesis.
8 Swiping attack pierce increases by 2 (4 overall). Has no effect when transformed into a bat.
9 Amp range increases by 3 units (6 units overall).
10 The amp gains a soundwave area-of-effect attack that deals 1 normal-type damage, has 40 pierce, fires every second, and can hit through line of sight blockers. Its radius scales with the amp's range.
Level Effect
2 Dart pierce increases by 1. Stacks additively with Sharp Darts and Sharper Darts.
3 Unlocks Even More Darts.
4 Range increases by 3 units. Stacks additively with Long Range and Enhanced Range.
5 Unlocks Big Bloon Bounty.
6 Dart attack cooldown reduces by 0.3 seconds, effectively increasing its attack speed by ~42.9%. Fast Throw always sets his base attack cooldown to the same value, so it no longer affects his attack speed.
7 Unlocks Dartnado.
8 Dart pierce increases by 1 (2 overall). Affects Dartnado. Stacks additively with Sharp Darts and Sharper Darts.
9 Range increases by 3 units (6 units overall). Stacks additively with Long Range and Enhanced Range.
10 Throws two darts at a time instead of one. Stacks additively with More Darts, Even More Darts, and the Stone of Ancient Knowledge.
Level Effect
2 Gun attack cooldown reduces by 0.1 seconds, effectively increasing its attack speed by ~7.14%. Stacks additively with Quick Draw.
3 Unlocks To Me.
4 Range increases by 2 units. Has no effect after upgrading to Gun Expertise, which always sets the range to 55 units.
5 Unlocks Royal Decree.
6 Gun blast radius increases by 12 units. Applies before Gun Familiarity and Gun Expertise's radius multipliers. (The in-game description erroneously states that it increases it by only 2 units.)
7 Unlocks Soda and Mints.
8 Gun attack cooldown reduces by 0.1 seconds (0.2 seconds overall), effectively increasing its attack speed by ~7.69%. Stacks additively with Quick Draw.
9 Range increases by 3 units (5 units overall). Since this causes her base range to match Gun Expertise's set range, Gun Expertise no longer increases range.
10 Bloons inflicted with bubblegum take 1 normal-type damage per second. Affects all layers and lasts indefinitely.
Level Effect
2 Range increases by 2 units. Affects all attacks. Stacks additively with Longer Range.
3 Unlocks Flash Bomb.
4 Main attack pierce increases by 1. Stacks additively with Sharper Shurikens and Super Sharp Shurikens.
5 Unlocks Sabotage Supply Lines.
6 Main attack cooldown reduces by 0.1 seconds, effectively increasing her attack speed by ~16.7%. Has no effect on Marked For Death, Tetsubishi, or Flash Bomb.
7 Unlocks Bloonjitsu.
8 Main attack pierce increases by 2 (3 overall). Stacks additively with Sharper Shurikens and Super Sharp Shurikens.
9 Range increases by 3 units (5 units overall). Affects all attacks. Stacks additively with Longer Range.
10 Main attack now deals +1 damage to Bloons with any special properties. Does not stack for Bloons with multiple special properties. Has no effect on other attacks.

Fireball's pierce increases by 5 per star level.

Level Effect
2 Range increases by 2 units. Affects all attacks. Stacks additively with Magic Reach and Wizardly Wisdom.
3 Unlocks Polymorph.
4 Base cost reduces by $25.
5 Unlocks Mystic Portal.
6 Main attack cooldown reduces by 0.1 seconds, effectively increasing her attack speed by 25%. Stacks additively with Intense Beams and Concentrated Beams. Has no effect on Fireball, Polymorph, Mystic Portal, or Forked Lightning.
7 Unlocks Meteor Storm.
8 Range increases by 3 units (5 units overall). Affects all attacks. Stacks additively with Magic Reach and Wizardly Wisdom.
9 Base cost reduces by $75 ($100 overall).
10 Gains a seeking bolt attack that has 4 pierce, deals 1 fire-type damage, and shoots every 0.75 seconds. Uses Sam's range stat and targeting, and is affected by buffs and trinkets.
Level Effect
2 Pierce increases by 1. Laser Eyes always sets his pierce to the same value, so it no longer has any effect, and Plasma Eyes and further upgrades do not factor in the added pierce.
3 Unlocks Heroic Aura.
4 Range increases by 3 units, including while transformed into the Sun God.
5 Unlocks Call in Friends.
6 Attack cooldown reduces by 0.01 seconds, effectively increasing his attack speed by ~11.1%. Has no effect after upgrading to Supersonic Speed, which always sets the cooldown to 0.07 seconds.
7 Unlocks Sun God.
8 Pierce increases by 2 (3 overall). Laser Eyes now reduces his pierce by 2, and Plasma Eyes and further upgrades do not factor in the added pierce.
9 Range increases by 4 units, including while transformed into the Sun God.
10 Starts with Heroic Aura for free when placed.
