Covered Garden is an Intermediate map in Bloons TD 6, introduced in version 33.0. It takes place in a garden with glass roof consisting of three moving panels. At any given time, three quarters of the garden is inaccessible: towers cannot be placed there, and towers already placed there cannot be interacted with, though their attacks and abilities work as usual. At the end of every round, one of the glass panels moves to expose a new quarter of the garden, and covering the quarter which was previously exposed.

The glass panels do not affect line of sight or projectiles; towers such as Mortar Monkey can attack covered parts of the track as normal.

This map's concept was designed by /u/SuperPsou, for the "200k Map Contest Competition" held on /r/btd6, and it was selected as a winner along with Dark Dungeons and Erosion.[1]

Layout

Covered Garden's bottom-left quarter is uncovered on Round 1, and the position of the uncovered quarter rotates 90° clockwise every round. The only openings for towers outside the glass-covered garden without line-of-sight blockers are near the start and end of the track. In addition, the 3 flower plantations within the glass-covered garden also block line-of-sight. The pond in the bottom-right of the garden is the only spot for water towers.

Tower interactions

Below is a list of how certain towers interact with the map's panels, these assume the tower is currently not being covered.

Strategy

Covered Garden is among the most challenging Intermediate maps, and is widely seen as the most frustrating among them, due to the glass panels' mechanic. To reduce the frustration of this map's gameplay, global towers such as Heli Pilots can be placed outside the glass-covered garden. For towers inside the garden, save-ups should be prepared for advance, so that they can be upgraded before a panel covers them. Towers that get around Covered Garden's mechanics well are listed here.

Name Portrait Reasoning
Corvus   When placed at the front of the track, Corvus can constantly farm mana and is uninhibited in any way by the glass panels. He trivializes the early-game, saves up large amounts of money in the mid-game, and performs well in the late-game thanks to Ancestral Might and Overload. He can move into a more optimal spot for coverage inside the garden at any time with his Level 7 Spirit Walk ability, and can move out of the garden at any time as well, even when he is covered by the panel.
Geraldo   When placed outside of the garden, Geraldo's shop can be utilized at any time. This gives him flexibility to use most of his items when needed, such as Blade Trap for leaking clumps of Bloons that result from not upgrading towers in time and Genie Bottle for any difficult round. His Pet Rabbit also does solid damage for its cost across the map. Note that Geraldo's on-tower items, such as Gerry's Fire and Jar of Pickles, cannot be placed on covered towers. He also excels on Intermediate maps in general, as his shop refresh occurs on Round 95 in CHIMPS if placed relatively early, allowing for effectively doubled usage of his items for the hardest rounds.
Comanche Commander   Comanche Commander's global attacking nature allows it to function while placed outside of the garden. With Geraldo's Sharpening Stone and Glue Storm's +2 damage debuff and de-Leading of DDTs, Comanche Commander does both good all-around damage and some support with its shove.
