Introduced Version 55.0

Dan D'Monke is a Hero in Bloons TD 6, introduced in version 55.0. He released alongside his first Hero Skin, Prince Adam (and his alter-ego He-Man), as part of a collaboration with Masters of the Universe from Mattel. During the first two weeks of his release, Dan D'Monke is only available via He-Man's bundle back, but after that Dan D'Monke will be available for purchase for Monkey Money and become available for events and competitive game modes.[1] In Bloons TD 6+ and Bloons TD 6 NETFLIX, he is unlocked for Monkey Money 7,500 after reaching level 35.

Dan D'Monke is a Hero with an alternate form named The Masqued Macaque. His base form has a fast melee attack and focuses on support by reducing lives lost and generating lives. The Masqued Macaque trades his attack speed and support for more damage, including being able to sometimes unleash chain lightning when he attacks. In both forms, he is immune to negative effects (such as Boss Bloon attacks). Dan D'Monke has a footprint of 8 units (same as Captain Churchill and Pat Fusty, but it is reduced to 7 while transformed) and a display range of 30 units.

  • Starting at level 4, Dan D'Monke places net traps on the track that capture and slow small groups of Bloons. The Masqued Macaque does not use net traps.
  • Starting at level 5, both forms place an ethereal shield at the exits of all lanes. When Bloons escape, it causes a shield to burst from the exit that pushes and stuns escaping Bloons away and reduces lives lost.
  • Starting at level 8, Dan D'Monke sometimes taunts Bloons to inflict blowback and reduce their leak damage, while the Masqued Macaque sometimes stomps Bloons to deal more damage and inflict blowback.
  • Starting at level 12, both forms gain a passive effect that triggers when a Bloon leaks that reduces lives lost and blows back up to 40 Bloons near the exit. It has its own cooldown.
  • Starting at level 14, Dan D'Monke completely heals any damage from a leaked Bloon at a rate of 1 life per second, but leaking another Bloon in the interim resets it and it does not prevent the player from losing if the player does not survive the initial leak, while The Masqued Macaque can smack MOABs backwards to damage other Bloons it flies into.
  • Starting at level 15, both forms buff the effectiveness of blowback for all towers.
  • Starting at level 19, Dan D'Monke generates Mana Shield from popping Bloons and deals more damage based on the amount of Mana Shield the player has, while The Masqued Macaque's damage increases as the player loses lives.
  • At level 20, both forms deal more damage the more Bloons there are on-screen and attack faster the closer Bloons are to leaking.

He has five Activated Abilities. One is shared between forms, while the other two are exclusive to each form.

  • Transformation (level 3) — Swaps him between Dan D'Monke and The Masqued Macaque, while also generating a blast of lightning that damages nearby Bloons and grants him a brief attack speed buff.
  • Reposition (Dan D'Monke level 7) — Allows the player to teleport almost any tower (including himself) to any other location on the map.
  • Volant Strike (The Masqued Macaque level 7) — Allows the player to teleport only him to any other location on the map, and he damages and stuns nearby Bloons at the point of impact.
  • Rabble Rouser (Dan D'Monke level 10) — Grants nearby towers a buff that increases damage but lowers attack speed, removes negative effects from them, and triggers passive abilities as if a life were just lost (such as Bomb Blitz's Bomb Storm and Elite Defender's Retaliation).
  • Berserk Frenzy (The Masqued Macaque level 10) — Causes him to dash from Bloon to Bloon across a large radius and deals heavy damage to them on contact.

Mechanics

[edit | edit source]

Main attack (Dan D'Monke)

[edit | edit source]

In his base form, Dan D'Monke attacks with his sword with a 0.5 seconds cooldown, dealing 1 Sharp damage to up to 4 Bloons in a small area[fn 1]. He cannot target nor hit Camo Bloons.

As Dan D'Monke levels up, his main attack gains additional effects:

Levels
Level Effect
2 Pierce increased to 6.
3 Deals blowback every 4 attacks.
4 Damage increased to 2.
6 Damage increased to 3.
8 Taunts every 24 attacks.
9 Every 3 attacks, Dan D'Monke jabs a second time in quick succession (0.05s).
11 Range increased to 34.5 units, display range is also increased to match it. Pierce increased to 8. Projectile lifespan increased to 0.079s.
15 Pierce increased to 10.
16 Damage increased to 4.
18 Now performs 3 jabs every third attack and 2 jabs every other attack.
19 Damage increased to 6.
20 Damage increased to 20.

Blowback

[edit | edit source]

Starting at Level 3 Dan D'Monke's main attack inflicts a blowback effect every 4 attacks that sends small Bloons backwards in the track between 100−200 units, with a weaker effect on MOABs and BFBs (5% of the distance or 5−10 units). It does not affect Lead Bloons, ZOMGs and DDTs. This attack affects a slightly larger area compared to its regular attack (3 units).

Levels
Level Effect
4 Blowback is now applied every 8 attacks, possibly a bug.

Taunt

[edit | edit source]

Starting at level 8, every 24 attacks Dan D'Monke will taunt the Bloons instead of doing its main attack. This attack has a 60 unit radius and can affect up to 45 Bloons. It has the following effects:

  • Bloons take +1 extra damage per hit from all sources for 20 seconds and affects all layers.
  • Reduces their leak damage by 50% permanently.
  • Has a 75% chance to inflict a blowback effect that sends Bloons back between 100−150 units into the track. MOABs and BFBs are only affected for 25% of the blowback distance (25−35 units).

This Taunt can affect Camo Bloons if Dan D'Monke is attacking a non-Camo target. ZOMGs, DDTs and BADs are immune to all effects of this attack.

Levels
Level Effect
11 Radius increased to 69 units.

Main attack (The Masqued Macaque)

[edit | edit source]

In his Masqued Macaque form, his attack cooldown is reduced to 1 second, but its damage is increased to 2, pierce increased to 9 and range increased to 34.5 units[fn 2], also the damage type is changed to Normal and has Camo detection.

As he levels up, his main attack gains additional effects:

Levels
Level Effect
4 Damage increased to 4.
6 Damage increased to 6.
11 Range increased to 39.675 units, display range is also increased to match it. Pierce increased to 12. Projectile lifespan increased to 0.0894s.
13 Attack cooldown reduced to 0.75s.
15 Pierce increased to 15.
16 Damage increased to 8.
19 Damage increased to 10.

Chain lightning

[edit | edit source]

The Masqued Macaque's main attack spawns chain lightning on every third attack[fn 3]. This attack starts by sending a single bolt towards a target Bloon, afterwards, if there is another target within 32 units of the initial target, the bolt will fork into two branches after 0.05 seconds which can seek their own targets and divide once again. The lightning can divide a maximum of 3 times, which means each attack can hit up to 15 different Bloons (1 + 2 + 4 + 8), dealing 1 Plasma-type damage to each.

Levels
Level Effect
4 Damage increased to 2.
6 Damage increased to 3.
16 Damage increased to 4.

Stomp

[edit | edit source]

The Masqued Macaque performs a stomp every 10 attacks. This attack has a 34.5 unit radius and can affect up to 30 bloons. Affected Bloons take 20 Normal damage (does not soak through layers) and have a 50% chance to get blown back 1−100 units at 4× speed. It cannot blow back MOAB-class bloons.

Levels
Level Effect
11 Radius increased to 39.675 units.
16 Stomp damage increased 40.

Net Traps (Dan D'Monke)

[edit | edit source]

Starting at level 4, Dan D'Monke places net traps on the section of the track in range every 9 seconds. When 4 non-MOAB-Class Bloons are in contact with it at once (18 units radius), it activates and creates a net that inflicts a effect effect which reduces the speed of up to 12 Bloons in an 18 radius range by 50%, this effect lasts for 12s and affects all layers. This effect can slow MOABs, though it will not trigger from them. The Net Traps have 45 seconds lifespan on the track. Camo Bloons are unaffected by this attack unless Dan D'Monke has Camo detection.

Levels
Level Effect
11 Range increased to 34.5 units.

Ethereal Shield (both forms)

[edit | edit source]

Starting at level 5, both Dan D'Monke and the Masqued Macaque place an Ethereal Shield 20 units before the exit of each lane. When a Bloon leaks, the shield activates and reduces the leak damage by 50%, rounded down. It also creates an area of effect that will push back Bloons that contact the shield by 20 units and stun them for 3 seconds. This effect will only work once on each Bloon per activation. The shield has a effect radius of 24 units and has 30 pierce.

The shield will recharge after 12 seconds cooldown, which restores the damage protection and refresh the pierce. It cannot affect Purples, Lead, or MOAB-Class Bloons, but the effect still triggers if they leak. Unlike other Dan D'Monke's attacks, his shield works on Camo Bloons.

Quick Thinking (both forms)

[edit | edit source]

Starting at level 12, both Dan D'Monke and the Masqued Macaque gain a second ability that activates when a Bloon is about to leak. For the next 6 seconds, all leak damage is reduced by half, rounded down, and a second area of effect is activated at the end of the track which produces a stronger blowback effect which can affect up to 40 Bloons at 5× speed, the distance and pierce penalty depend on the type of Bloon:

Bloon Blowback distance Pierce penalty
Small Bloons 100% (300−400 units) 0
MOABs 75% (225−337.5 units) +4
BFBs 50% (150−225 units) +6
ZOMGs 30% (90−135 units) +19
DDTs 75% (225−337.5 units) +5

This effect has a 60 second cooldown.

Live Recovery (Dan D'Monke)

[edit | edit source]

Starting at level 14, Dan D'Monke will start recovering 1 life per second after a leak, up to the damage of the last leaked Bloon, capped at 100 Lives.

MOAB Smack (The Masqued Macaque)

[edit | edit source]
This article is in need of research. You can help out by editing this article or discussing your findings on the talk page.
The editor who added this notice elaborates: Verify if the "half of the range" also scales with Mac's own range when given range buffs and range debuffs (e.g. Blasta)

Starting at level 14, the Masqued Macaque gains a new attack that specifically targets blue MOABs. This attack sends the target back into the track at 200 units/s, dealing 40 Normal damage to it. As it travels back into the track, the target and any other Bloon that collides with it (in a 10 unit radius) receives 60 Normal damage every 0.1s and a pushback effect of 12 units is also applied. It will keep damaging the target MOAB and other Bloons until the 20 pierce of the attack is exhausted or after 1 second passes. The attack can keep hitting the same Bloons after 0.1s, which also makes the target consume 1 pierce constantly.

This attack has a cooldown of 30 seconds and the range is half of The Masqued Macaque's range (19.8375 units by default).

Blowback buff (both forms)

[edit | edit source]

Starting at level 15, both Dan D'Monke and the Masqued Macaque apply a buff to all towers on the map that increases their minimum and maximum blowback distance by 40%.

Mana Shield (Dan D'Monke)

[edit | edit source]

Starting at level 19, Dan D'Monke generates 1 mana shield per pop. He can generate a maximum of 100 mana shield. Additionally, his sword attacks gain 1% damage per mana shield, up to +100% damage. His mana shield generation works on CHIMPS.

Lives buff (The Masqued Macaque)

[edit | edit source]

Starting at level 19, the Masqued Macaque's sword and lightning attacks gain 1% damage per life under 102 lives, up to +101% damage.

Battle Peril (both forms)

[edit | edit source]

At level 20, Dan D'Monke and the Masqued Macaque can attack up to twice as fast depending on how far Bloons are along the track, in the same way as Elite Defender. Both forms also gain +1 damage for every 10,000 leak damage on the screen (not RBE, in the same way as Avatar of Wrath). Dan D'Monke is capped to a maximum of +15 damage and The Masqued Macaque can go up to a maximum of +50 damage.

Abilities

[edit | edit source]
This article or section needs more images.
The editor who added this notice elaborates: Needs recordings of each ability in action

Transformation (both forms)

[edit | edit source]

Transformation unlocks at level 3. It causes him to undergo a transformation, during which all his other attacks and abilities are disabled. While active, he produces lightning every 0.5 seconds (unaffected by attack speed modifiers). Like the Masqued Macaque Chain Lighting, it divides in two bolts after hitting a Bloon, but unlike the main attack, it chan branch up to 4 times (to hit a maximum of 31 Bloons) and their seeking range is increased to 86 units. The range for the first target is 30 units for Dan D'Monke and 34.5 units for The Masqued Macaque.

The transformation phase lasts for three seconds, and when it ends, he switches from Dan D'Monke to the Masqued Macaque (or vice versa) and gains a buff that increases his attack speed by 33% (0.75× attack cooldown multiplier) for 9 seconds. The ability has a cooldown of 20 seconds. It can only target or hit Camo Bloons if used by the Masqued Macaque or if Dan D'Monke has Camo detection.

Levels
Level Effect
6 Lightning damage increases to 2.
11 Lightning damage increases to 3. First target range increased to 34.5 units (Dan D'Monke) or 39.675 units (The Masqued Macaque).
16 Lightning damage increases to 4.
17 Buff duration increases to 15 seconds.

Reposition (Dan D'Monke)

[edit | edit source]

Reposition unlocks at level 7. It has a cooldown of 30 seconds and can be used between rounds. It teleports any valid tower on screen to a new location, and in general, it has identical mechanics to Support Chinook's Reposition ability, including the incapability to reposition heavy units (e.g. Aircraft Carriers), all landing pads of flying units, Beast Handlers, Paragons, most map-exclusive towers, and most sub-towers. However, unlike the Chinook, the towers are moved instantly and he is able to move himself.

Levels
Level Effect
17 Cooldown reduced to 15s.

Volant Strike (The Masqued Macaque)

[edit | edit source]

Volant Strike unlocks at level 7. It has a cooldown of 30 seconds and can be used between rounds. When used, the player is prompted to select a valid location on the map to move The Masqued Macaque, which behaves in a similar way to Dark Champion's Darkshift ability. The Hero will leap and land on the selected location, creating an explosion that can damage up to 35 Bloons in a 34.5 unit radius for 75 Normal damage. It also stuns surviving Bloons for a certain amount of time:

Bloon Stun lifespan
Small Bloons 6s
MOABs 3s
BFBs 2s
ZOMGs 1s
DDTs 6s

Its cooldown reduces by 3 seconds each time a life is lost (including shield lives and Soul Barrier lives), with a minimum of 1 second between each life loss.

Levels
Level Effect
11 Radius increased to 39.675 units.
16 Damage increased to 100.
17 Cooldown reduced to 15s.

Rabble Rouser (Dan D'Monke)

[edit | edit source]

Rabble Rouser unlocks at level 10 and has 60 seconds cooldown. It provides buffs to himself an all other Monkeys in radius, activating any life loss abilities (e.g. Elite Defender or Bomb Blitz) as well as granting them 1.5x damage, and immunity to stun effects for 10 seconds, but in exchange, their attack speed is reduced -17% (1.2× attack cooldown multiplier). The damage buff is multiplicative with other damage buffs.

Levels
Level Effect
11 Range increased to 34.5 units.
17 Cooldown reduced to 45s.

Berserk Frenzy (The Masqued Macaque)

[edit | edit source]

Berserk Frenzy unlocks at level 10 and has a 60s cooldown. While active, he will continuously charge at Bloons anywhere in the map with the targeting option selected at the time of activation, swiping them in a straight line every 0.25s. On each sweep The Masqued Macaque can damage up to 18 Bloons for 30 Normal damage. Internally, Dan disappears and a projectile is created that moves at 500 units/s for 0.138s, which results on a motion of 69 units. This projectile has a 10 unit radius.

The ability lasts up to 12 seconds or until no Bloons are on screen. He will not be able to trigger his other abilities while this ability is active, nor can he be selected for that duration. It cannot be triggered if no Bloons are on screen.

Its cooldown reduces by 5 seconds each time a life is lost, with a minimum of 1 second between each life loss.

Levels
Level Effect
11 Pierce increased to 24. Travel distance increased to 79.35 units (lifespan increased to 0.1587s).
13 Charge cooldown reduced to 0.1875s.
15 Pierce increased to 30.
16 Damage increased to 40.
19 Damage increased to 50.

The editor who added this notice elaborates: Elaborate the summary of what Dan D'Monkey performs as a whole and how to optimize Dan D'Monke

Dan D'Monke has fairly average support and DPS, being mostly used for his Reposition ability to be a cheap substitute for Support Chinook. His Masqued Macaque form is decent on ABR thanks to innate Camo detection and Lead popping.
