Monkey Pirates is the Monkey Buccaneer's path 2 tier 4 upgrade in Bloons TD 5. It unlocks the MOAB Takedown ability, which instantly grabs the strongest target up to a BFB (including Blastapopoulos and Dreadbloon due to an oversight on the multiplatform version of Bloons TD 5), making it untargetable and deals 20,000 damage to the target after a few seconds (always 3 in the Flash version). In the multiplatform version, if multiple Bloons have the same strong priority, it will target the first of those Bloons, while in the Flash version, it will target the closest. In the Flash version, it does not generate any cash from instakilled Bloons. It has a 60-second cooldown (55 seconds in the Flash version).

Strategy
With a strategy revolving around early Cannon Ships, this upgrade can be purchased to skip the first MOAB and BFB on rounds 46 and 60, respectively. It is much more expensive than using a MOAB Assassin when purchasing outright and relies on water to be placed, so it only becomes worth the cost with Cannon Ships already placed down for defense. The advantage of Monkey Pirates is that both the MOAB and children layers are instantly destroyed, so cleanup is not necessary to build early on.
