Cleansing Foam is the Monkey Engineer's path 1 tier 3 upgrade in Bloons TD 5. It adds an additional attack that places foam on the track every 2.1 seconds. The foam removes Camo and Regrowth properties from any Bloons it touches, and also deals 1 damage to Lead Bloons. The foam can affect up to 30 Bloons (which can rehit the same Bloon on the multiplatform version of Bloons TD 5), or else it expires after 8.2 seconds or at the end of each round. On the multiplatform version, there is an bug when the specialist building Engineers Workshop is enabled, or the engineer is buffed by a Monkey Intelligence Bureau that enables the foam to damage all Bloon types, including MOAB-Class Bloons.

Strategy

In Bloons TD 5 Deluxe, Cleansing Foam is an inconsistent de-camo and Lead Bloon popper that excels on single lane maps or maps where it can place foam into an intersection in order to prevent strays. It is helpful to also include some Glue Soak Glue Gunners to slow down Lead Bloons to give the Engineer time to place foam on the track in the event the engineer is too close to the entrance or other Bloons consume the pierce of the foam. Tracks like Spider Map and Clock are unfavorable to it, but it can be used on others like Rail Track Reverse or Castle Reverse when positioned at the front of the track at the junction before Bloons split. Two Cleansing Foams are slightly cheaper than a Radar Scanner village and would make the foam a lot more consistent and allow foam to be placed on separate lanes on two lane tracks like Cash Money, but at that point it's better to upgrade the village as it also provides valuable buffs like Jungle Drums as well as camo detection.

On the multiplatform version of Bloons TD 5, this tower is a lot weaker due to re-hits on the same Bloon eating up the pierce on foam puddles way faster and should instead be used as (if not expensive) damaging puddles with the MIB damage type glitch.

Crosspathing with Larger Service Area actively hinders the effectiveness of the foam, as it increases the range at which foam can be placed, while the foam wants to be placed in a single chokepoint. 9-inch nails doesn't actively hurt, and depending on the layout of the track can get some benefit out of the additional nail pierce, but this is optional.
