The most important advice for defeating Bosses, specially Elite versions is to generate additional income (a.k.a. farming) and start doing so as early as possible. Notice that Normal Bosses can sometimes be beaten without additional income and a proper defense strategy but Elite Bosses are just impossible without farming.

Benjamin or Geraldo are the most used Heroes in Boss Bloon Events thanks to having methods of generating extra income that can be used to accelerate early game farms, if they are not available the Hero choice falls into two categories: Heroes that can carry the early game on their own to focus on farming (ex. Quincy, Sauda) or a Heroes that have good synergy with towers which can defend the early and middle tiers (ex. Admiral Brickell + Triple Guns or Adora + Sun Avatars).

Early farming can be is usually done with strategies such as Marketplace spam or the Miniopolis (Monkeyopolis with one farm sacrifice), usually enabled by rushing a IMF Loan. Additional income generating towers like Bloon Trap and Rubber to Gold are also useful in this stage of the game.

Going into the Tier 2 boss players can use farming strategies such as Boat Farming (Trade Empire with 20 Merchantmen / Favored Trades and 10 Central Markets) and/or building several Banana Research Facilities to get a Banana Central as soon as possible. Overclock and Monkey City also often used to boost the income of such towers.

After that, for Tier 3 and higher the farming consists in spamming the most profitable towers like BRF on land and Favored Trades in water to maximize the income generation with the intention of defending the rest of the Boss tiers with Paragons and other expensive towers.

Other towers that can be used for income generation are Bloon Trap, Rubber to Gold, Merchantman, Supply Drop, Support Chinook, Jungle's Bounty and Sun Temple with support sacrifices. This is important to keep in mind in the case Banana Farms are restricted.

Listing specific towers to defend each boss tier is difficult because their success will depend a lot on which Boss, Map or modifiers but commonly used options for Elite bosses are:

* Tier 1: Elite Defender, several Overdrive / Spike Storm + Embrittlement, MOAB Eliminator, First Strike Capability or Sticky Bomb.
* Tier 2: The Tack Zone with several Overdrive / Spike Storm + Super Brittle, Master Bomber, M.A.D, Sun Temple, Sun Avatar spam or Avatar of Wrath + Poplust.
* Tier 3: Several of the Tier 2 options, cheaper Paragons like Apex Plasma Master or Glaive Dominus (Degree 1 is usually enough but 20 is recommended), or even spamming some tier 3/4 towers with buffs from Call to Arms / Homeland Defense and Permanent Brew that are intended to be sacrificed to a Paragon in the late game.
* Tier 4: One or two Paragons. Nautic Siege Core, Navarch of the Seas, Ascended Shadow or Master Builder are affordable at this point with Degree 20 or higher. True Sun God or VTSG can also be used as an alternative.
* Tier 5: Three to four Paragons. At this point the most expensive ones such as Magus Perfectus or Goliath Doomship are affordable with Degree 40 or higher but if it can reach Degree 60, the battle against the Boss will be much easier.

Normal Bosses can be defeated with much lesser defenses, as a Tier 5 Normal Boss can be compared to a Tier 3 Elite. Additionally, all tiers will also benefit from towers that increase the damage the Boss takes such as Super Brittle, Cripple MOAB and Glue Strike / Glue Storm, alongside Support Sun Temples, Call to Arms / Homeland Defense and Permanent Brew to buff other towers (except when facing Lych).

Boss Bloon Event is an event in Bloons TD 6 involving Boss Bloons, introduced in version 27.0. The Boss Bloon Event's button appears in the top-right of the game's home screen when the event is active.

The Boss Bloon Event generally runs from early Saturday to early Thursday, but there are exceptions, usually when an update is about to be released, which leads to events ending earlier. The active Boss Bloon Event generally cycles between the six current bosses, Bloonarius, Lych, Vortex, Dreadbloon, Phayze, and Blastapopoulos, except during the 4 weeks after an update that releases a boss, during which only events featuring the new boss are run.

Mechanics

Boss Bloon Events play in a similar manner to a Boss Challenge but the Map and Boss Bloon the players will face are fixed. Some modifiers can be applied such as the speed/health of Bloons, MOAB-Class Bloons or the Boss itself to increase or reduce the difficulty. In some events additional starting cash can be granted. Additionally, some Heroes, towers or upgrades might get restricted. A limit on the number of Paragons that can be on the map at the same time can also be enforced, this limit is usually 4 but can be as low as zero or as high as having no limit. The player also starts with 200 lives for the Normal Boss and 100 for Elite.

In the same way Boss Challenge does, the game starts in Round 1 and finishes in Round 140. The Tier 1 Boss appears in Round 40, and the successive tiers will reappear with greater strength every 20 rounds until the Tier 5 boss spawns at Round 120 and finishes at end of the round where this Boss is defeated. Players will receive rewards after beating each Tier, but if the Boss reaches the exit or is not beaten after 20 rounds since spawning, a defeat will occur even if no lives are lost. While the Boss is on the screen, there are no breaks between rounds even if Auto Start is disabled. All bosses feature custom rounds on some of the rounds they spawn, and Lych, Vortex, Dreadbloon feature changes on other rounds as well (see the page for each Boss for details).

The events are usually played on Medium difficulty, but other game modes such as Easy, Alternate Bloons Rounds or Half Cash can be featured. Players are allowed to use Insta Monkeys, Powers and the in-app purchase Double Cash Mode. Maps of all difficulties and even the special Protect The Yacht map have been used in the events, but Beginner maps are selected the most often. The Normal version of the Boss must be beaten to unlock the Elite version, which can feature different modifiers and restrictions.

After round 20, the player can choose to restart the game at the last round multiple of 20 they have passed (Round 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 or 120) at the cost of Monkey Money 100 (increases by an additional Monkey Money 100 every 20 rounds). If the player is defeated they may also choose to restart the last round by paying twice the amount of the 20 round reset. Exiting the the game and returning only restarts the current round with no additional penalties.

Boss Bloon Events can also be played in Co-op mode with in public or private lobbies, the rules for cash sharing are the same as in regular Co-op modes. In this mode, the health of the boss is increased by 20% for each additional player (+20% for 2, +40% for 3 and +60% for 4 players). The rewards for beating each tier are the same as in solo, given in full to each player in the team, and can't be earned after having already done so in solo.

During a Boss Bloon Event, the featured boss cannot be selected in Boss Challenge mode.

Ranked Mode

Before starting a game, players can also check a box in the lower left part of screen to play in Ranked Mode, in which the players compete to place as high as possible on the Leaderboard for additional prizes. This mode disables Insta Monkeys, Powers and in-app purchases to prevent pay-to-win scenarios. Everything else regarding to the event (Boss, Map, modifiers and restrictions) is the same as non-ranked mode.

There are three scoring types, in all of them a lower score is better:

 • Fastest Time: A timer starts the moment a Boss Bloon enters the screen, keeps running until is defeated, and resumes every time the boss returns on later tiers.
 • Least Cash: A counter is increased by the amount of cash spent when a tower is placed or a upgrade / paragon is purchased. Paying cash to purchase items at Geraldo's Shop or using map features such as removing obstacles or gizmos also increase the score.
 • Least Tiers: A counter is increased by one every time a tower is placed or a upgrade / paragon is purchased. Gizmos and Sub-towers such as Geraldo's shop items and the Marine deployed by the Special Poperations ability do not increase the score.

Every week, one of these three scoring types is selected and all players who defeat the boss will be ranked according to it. The scores for Normal and Elite bosses are independent from each other, and since version 44.0, they can have a different scoring type on the same week. Regardless of the type used, the timer described above will appear because it is used as the tie-breaker in Least Cash and Least Tiers rankings.

There is also a penalty timer (shown in red below the boss banner/health bar) that starts running if the player takes too long to beat the non-boss rounds, it works by running a invisible countdown that starts at 10 + Round Number × 0.25 seconds after the last Bloon of the round enters the screen and when is depleted the penalty timer will start/resume and keep counting until round is completed. At the end of the game the accumulated time in the penalty timer is added to the regular Boss timer. The cooldown of cash-generating abilities is paused while the penalty timer is active, even in non-Ranked mode (where the timer does not appear), to prevent abuse and weaken strategies such as IMF Loan farming.

Ranked Mode can also be played in Co-op mode and the score of the team is recorded in a independent Leaderboard (there are different rankings for teams of 2, 3 or 4 players). If the players have scores in multple Leaderboards for the same Boss difficulty, only the highest prize will be earned.

In addition to the global ranking, players who defeat the Boss are also placed automatically in a Leaderboard with pool of up to 100 players known as the Mini-Boss, with the players in the Mini-Boss gaining additional prizes based on their ranking within the Mini-Boss. Co-op and solo players may be placed in the same Mini-Boss.
