Bloon Trap is the Monkey Engineer's path 1 tier 4 upgrade in Bloons Monkey City. It allows the Engineer to place down a Bloon Trap on the Track, absorbing up to 250 RBE of Bloons, and providing double the income per pop when the trap is full and collected by clicking or tapping it. On the multiplatform version of Bloons Monkey City, the trap ignores the reduced cash per pop of later rounds. Traps only spawn after Bloons enter the range of the Engineer.

Strategy

Bloon Trap can be an effective farming option during early rounds in the absence of Banana Farms, in order to jumpstart a defense or additional income from Supply Drops.
On the Flash version, Bloon Traps can be useful for starting a Supply Drop Sniper stall setup in Contested Territory, allowing the first supply drop much earlier than conventionally saving money. Only at most two Engineers are needed before selling them into the first Supply Drop, especially since the cash per pop falls dramatically by even round 20.
On the Mobile version, due to the effective cash per pop never being reduced, it remains valuable well into the midgame rounds up to the 40s, provided adequate defense is also provided to break down MOABs. Use MOAB destroyers like Super Wide Funnel and MOAB Maulers, placed just outside the range of the track, to pop down MOABs and leave ceramic insides intact to be trapped. Using Arctic Winds can also slow down Ceramics for long enough to get trapped even when the trap breaks prematurely. This is also a good time to get a Monkey Town, which further improves the cash per pop of the traps.
Trap manipulation is important to ensure maximum value generated, and to avoid sentries from stealing pops. Try to place the engineer in a spot where it can only see one portion of the track, and avoid buying Larger Service Area.
