Boomerang Monkeys (also known as Boomerang Throwers or just Boomerangs) are monkeys that use various kinds of boomerangs to attack Bloons. They were introduced in Bloons Tower Defense 2 and have made a playable appearance in almost every TD game and spinoff since.
Gameplay
[edit | edit source]The Boomerang Monkey is a tower that throws a curved boomerang in an arc that returns to it if its pierce is not exhausted.
Likely based off the Rang Bloon from Bloons, the tower was introduced in Bloons Tower Defense 2 as the Boomerang. It is one of only two non-Bomb Shooter towers that has access to frozen Bloon popping. In Bloons TD 4, the Boomerang Thrower's ultimate upgrade is the Lightsabre Thrower, allowing it to pop up to 70 Bloons of any type per shot.
In Bloons TD 5, it has two paths that both focus on DPS. The top path focuses on amount of Bloons popped, while the bottom path focuses on attack speed. Its Specialty Building in BTD5 is the Boomerang Dojo, while its main buildings in Bloons Monkey City are the Boomerang Hut and Monkey Academy (in the Flash version) or the Boomerang Institute (in the mobile version).
In Bloons TD 6 and Bloons TD Battles 2, the Boomerang Monkey is classified as a Primary tower. Its two paths from BTD5 return in slightly modified form, and a third path is added focusing on firing in straight lines and MOAB knockback.
The Boomerang Monkey appears as a Common ally in Bloons Adventure Time TD. It functions much the same as previous iterations, and can be equipped by all monkey characters.

While the Boomerang Monkey itself is absent, the Boomerang branch of weapons in both games are based off its upgrades, and the Boomerang Thrower upgrade from Bloons Supermonkey 2 is directly named after it.
The Boomerang Monkey is a Monkey unlocked at level 2. It drops down onto Bloons, throwing two boomerangs around it per bounce. It disappears after either hitting the ground border or bouncing off five Bloons. Its Mega Monkey variant, Mega Boomerang Monkey, pops more Bloons and has an orbiting ring of glaives around it.
"Boomerang" is a Monkey type shared by four cards, including the basic Boomerang Monkey. All of them are Primary-class damage dealers.
Boomerang Monkey deals damage to the target and the Bloon directly behind, if applicable.
Bionic Boomerang starts off with 2 temporary ammo when placed.
Glaive Ricochet deals damage to all Bloons in the queue behind the target.
MOAB Dominator, when played, increases a chosen Large Bloon's delay.
General information
[edit | edit source]Appearance
[edit | edit source]The base Boomerang Monkey is usually depicted as a standard monkey with brown fur, tan skin, and brown eyes wearing a yellow bodysuit with a red curved line on the head (which was a proper boomerang symbol for its first three appearances) and a red line vertically on their torso. It is unclear if the suit benefits their skill in any way.
