The Dart Monkey (Dart Tower in Bloons Tower Defense) is a tower in the Bloons TD series, introduced in Bloons Tower Defense. Inspired by the monkey from the Bloons series, the Dart Monkey is included in every Bloons TD game. Throughout all of the Bloons TD games, it remains a medium-range, early game tower with low pierce and damage relative to other options. In some games such as BMC and BTD6, certain special benefits can provide free Dart Monkeys.
Gameplay
[edit | edit source]For its incarnations in BTD1 and Bloons Tower Defense 2, the Dart Monkey has two upgrades improving its pierce and/or range; Bloons TD 3 adds upgrades that further increase those attributes. Bloons TD 4 and its mobile version introduced the Spike-o-pult upgrade, exchanging the monkey's darts for spiked balls.
In Bloons TD 5, Bloons TD 5 Deluxe, the mobile version of BTD5, Bloons TD Battles, the multiplatform version of BTDB, and Bloons Monkey City, the Dart Monkey returns with two upgrade paths. The first path focuses mainly on bursts of damage via the Spike-O-Pult and Juggernaut upgrades. The second path introduces Triple Darts, which can be upgraded to the DPS-oriented Super Monkey Fan Club.
In Bloons TD 6 and Bloons TD Battles 2, the Dart Monkey is classified as a Primary tower. The first path, with the addition of Ultra-Juggernaut, fulfills a similar role to its BTD5 counterpart. The second path allows for buffing other Dart Monkeys' DPS, culminating with the Plasma Monkey Fan Club's Activated Ability. The third path swaps out its darts for a crossbow, allowing for increased pierce and speed. In BTD6, it has a Paragon called the Apex Plasma Master.
In Bloons Adventure Time TD, the Dart Monkey is a Common ally. Its upgrades increase its pierce and allow it to throw three darts at a time.

Bloons Pop!
[edit | edit source]The Dart Monkey is the first Monkey to be unlocked in Bloons Pop!. It throws a volley of low-pierce darts that deal high damage. Merging two of them makes a Mega Dart Monkey, which replaces darts with spiked balls that produce smaller balls as they pop Bloons.
Bloons Card Storm
[edit | edit source]In Bloons Card Storm, the Dart Monkey (formatted as "Dart") is a Monkey type shared by seven cards. All of them are strictly damage dealers. It also has a playable unit that shares its name with its own category.
Dart Monkey costs no Gold and does low damage with one ammo.
Barrel of Monkeys is a multi-charge variation of the normal Dart Monkey, but costs 1 Gold each.
Crossbow Monkey is a 2 ammo monkey that has moderate ATK but 2 reload.
Dart Monkey Twins is a two-charge card that gains more damage when placed together, but not as much when alone.
Sharp Shooter is a stronger but more rare and expensive Crossbow Monkey that does double damage when ammo is full.
Spike-o-Pult is a slow-firing monkey that gains more ATK as it fully pops Bloons.
Super Monkey Fan Club grants extra ATK for all Dart Monkeys while the player's turn is active.
Merchandise
[edit | edit source]Dart Monkey began being introduced in official Ninja Kiwi merchandise since the Bloons Merchandise Store. Its merchandise also appears in the Ninja Kiwi Store as stickers, Makeship plushies and a vinyl figure, and a PhatMojo plushie, and also incidentally appears on other merchandise as part of the artwork of Bloons TD 6.
