Spike-o-pult iterations: BTD3 • BTD4 • BTD5 • Battles • BMC • BTD6 • Battles 2 • BCS

Spike-o-pults (also formatted as Spike-O-Pults or Spike-o-Pults) are monkeys that use catapults that launch spiked balls to pop Bloons. They were introduced in Bloons Tower Defense 3.

While the BTD3 iteration of the Spike-o-pult was its own tower, it became an upgrade of the Dart Monkey starting in Bloons TD 4. Other games outside of the Bloons TD series also treat it as a type of Dart Monkey.

Gameplay

[edit | edit source]

The Spike-o-pult pierces a sizable amount of Bloons in a straight line at a decent range.

In Bloons Tower Defense 3, its upgrades increase its range, firing speed, pierce, and projectile size.

In Bloons TD 6, its projectiles can bounce off obstacles, allowing the Spike-o-pult to pop even more Bloons on maps with lots of walls.

For more gameplay information on this subject:

In Bloons Supermonkey 2, the spiked projectiles launched by the Spike-o-pult can be obtained as a tier 6 Dart weapon in both the arms and the core. The arms fire in a straight direction, while the core fires a radial attack in eight directions.

The Spike-o-pult appears as a Rare Monkey card under the Dart category, subsequently being classed as a Primary-class card. It starts off with 50 damage, but if it pops a Bloon, its damage increases by 20 per Bloon destroyed.

Appearance

[edit | edit source]

The Spike-o-pult itself consists of a large catapult on wheels seemingly made of wood, stone and rope. It is loaded with a black spiked ball. The monkey operating the Spike-o-pult is consistently depicted as a standard Dart Monkey with brown fur, tan skin, and brown eyes.

Occasionally, in cases such as the Minipult or the model for the Card Storm incarnation of the Spike-o-Pult, there's no monkey operator present. These may either be turrets or operated manually from afar.

  • The Spike-o-pult was originally called the Cat-o-pult, sparking some concern amongst the monkeys for its implications.[1]
