Primal Instinct is a type of Artifact in the Rogue Legends DLC for Bloons TD 6, introduced in version 48.0. It increases the attack speed of Primary Monkeys when they are set to Close targeting. This bonus does not affect track-based Close targeting (via class-granting buffs such as Master of all Trades for Spike Factory). The benefit increases with the rarity of the Artifact. The description actually states the attack cooldown reduction rather than the attack speed increase, in contrast with most Artifacts.
Stats
| Rarity | Attack cooldown multiplier | Equivalent Attack speed increase |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 0.8× | +25% |
| Rare | 0.75× | +33% |
| Legendary | 0.65× | +54% |
Tips
This section was last updated for: version 53.2
- This Artifact offers a tradeoff between attack speed an the ability to use more "useful" targeting options like First or Strong, or even Last with Monkeys that like long straights, making it difficult to concentrate damage on high health targets or to catch stray Bloons, so it is recommended to micro their targeting options, have a non-Primary Tower to perform those tasks or to spread more Towers across the map. Tack Shooters without Inferno Ring and path 1 / 2 Ice Monkeys always benefit from this Artifact because their only targeting option is Close (which is not shown in the Tower's menu).
- As the campaign progresses, the accumulation of Artifacts makes the targeting option limitation irrelevant and after obtaining Essence Of Dreadbloon or similar Artifacts.
- This benefit can be extended to other towers, with 1+-x-x Engineer Monkeys being among the prime candidates, as they scale much better with all speed buffs and the Close targeting matters less.
