Crossbow Monkey does the same amount of damage as Night Vision Sniper while having more choice to pick off separate targets and better synergy with ATK buffs compared to ammo buffs.
Crossbow dealing 100 damage allows it to pop Blooming Bloon, outside of Zee Jay's passive plus Dark Castle, or Amelia buff.
On a deck that relies on Super Monkey Fan Club synergy to defend, Crossbow is still a questionable choice, as its buffing power isn't higher than most other Dart Monkeys. Bringing it if combined in a deck with a mid-game win condition to defend for a while before the final kill can be a decent budget strategy.
During Version 6.2 playtests, many ideas for buffs to Crossbow Monkey circulated, but in the end, Ninja Kiwi only increased its ATK from 40 to 50,[1][2] giving the same burst damage as Night Vision Sniper with more flexible targeting and better ATK buff synergy than ammo buffs.[1]
