Druid is Magic Monkey card in Bloons Card Storm. It is a defender that gains +20 ATK during the opponent's turn. Additionally, it restores up to 75 health for the player's Hero when it is played.
The card artwork portrays a Druid planting a seedling at a forest, accompanied by a capybara near the Druid, plus multiple birds perched on tree branches.
Tips
- Druid's On Play effect guarantees healing on the turn it is played. Its main disadvantage is that it has less overall healing than cards like Quick Break or Monkey Priestess while being a relatively weak Monkey for its cost (e.g. Sniper Monkey has 90 ATK).
- Compared to the Tack Shooter, Druid costs 2 more and does a little less on Defender (Tack does up to 80 damage on Defender), but comes with the advantage of the aforementioned On Play effect. Including the heal, Druid has a total burst of 170, which is higher than Tack Sprayer. Due to the sheer amount of burst healing and damage, Druid can be used by heroes like Gwendolin to survive against Aggro strategies.
- Although Monkey Priestess may heal more than Druid, it not being a Defender, having lower burst damage and damage per turn, and requiring itself to be replaced makes Druid overall a stronger card if significant healing is not necessary.
- Ezili may use Druid over other Defenders to keep herself healthy when using Totem repeatedly.
- Its Common rarity makes it decent as an unlock for newer players, as the strong healing combined with keeping itself on the field makes surviving Aggro strategies easier.
Update history
- Placing a Druid when on full health no longer triggers the healing animation (bug fix)
Defender bonus increased ― +10 → +20
On Play: Hero heal increased ― 50 → 75
On Play: Hero Heal increased ― 75 → 100
Development
Before the Version 6.2 buffs to Druid's Health heal and Defender bonuses, playtesters of Version 6.2 deemed Druid a bad Monkey card due to being considered one of the weakest Defenders and having subpar base damage and healing.[1] A community playtester proposed its ATK to be increased from 50 to 60, Defender bonus increased from +10 to +20, and Heal buff from 50 to 100, but Ninja Kiwi reduced the Heal buff to +75 and removed the base ATK bonus.[2]
The initially proposed heal bonus was added in Version 6.4, giving Druid a better immediate heal and opening up newer players for more ways to survive aggro decks,[3] enough to beat Tack Sprayer in terms of relative net Hero health benefit.[3]
