About Bloons
Bloons is a video game franchise about monkeys and balloon-like entities called Bloons. The franchise began with small Flash games in the mid-2000s before expanding to mobile, PC, and console, and mostly abandoned Flash in the mid-2010s. The first Bloons games were puzzle games about using a monkey that throws darts to pop Bloons and clear levels, but the most active and popular series within the franchise now is Bloons TD (short for Bloons Tower Defense, though the full name is rarely used anymore), a series of tower defense strategy games about using "monkey towers", such as the Dart Monkey and Bomb Shooter, to pop waves of Bloons on maps. Bloons TD 6 is currently one of the most popular games on Steam and mobile devices. Other notable Bloons games include the competitive multiplayer spin-offs Bloons TD Battles and Bloons TD Battles 2, the vertically scrolling arcade-style shooters Bloons Super Monkey and Bloons Supermonkey 2, the collectable card game Bloons Card Storm, and the puzzle games' spiritual successor Bloons Pop.
About Blooncyclopedia
Blooncyclopedia is an independently owned and self-hosted wiki dedicated to covering all of Bloons: the games, the game-related software, and the rare supplemental material (such as videos, soundtracks, and merchandise). As part of our coverage of Bloons games, we document technical information and community-created strategies and tutorials.
Blooncyclopedia launched on July 2024 and is built entirely from the ground up; it is not based on any pre-existing Bloons wiki. Many of our articles were generated with boilerplates and scripts that use data taken directly from the games themselves, both so these articles have a consistent starting point and to ensure that statistics within the article's templates are as accurate to the games as possible. These generated articles were published on the wiki using a bot, but all of the prose is written by us humans (or monkeys).
Participating in Indie Wiki Jam
To participate in Indie Wiki Jam, you must edit for a participating wiki that you haven't edited for before. The list of participating wikis can be found on the website and Discord server. Edits must be tagged with #IWJ somewhere in the edit summary to count.
Tasks for Blooncyclopedia
If you haven't edited for this wiki before, here are some things you can do to participate.
General
- Expand articles that are missing content
- Add categories to uncategorized pages and files
- Correct spelling and grammatical errors
Character information
For most major characters, we have separate pages for the character in a general context and for the character in gameplay, much like SmashWiki. For example, the Captain Churchill page is about Captain Churchill and his alter egos as a whole, while Captain Churchill (BTD6), Captain Churchill (Battles 2), Sentai Churchill (Battles 2), and Captain Churchill (Bloons Pop!) are about him as a playable Hero in those games. Currently, the articles about characters in general are very barebones and need to be expanded with descriptions of each character's appearance, personality and traits, other forms (skins, transformations, etc), and lore (miscellaneous and often bizarre characteristics collected from sources such as the Ninja Kiwi Blog). Note that we also have articles for some Adventure Time characters, such as Finn and Jake, due to them appearing in the crossover game Bloons Adventure Time TD.
Level solutions
The Bloons puzzle game series has over 1,000 levels in total. We currently have images and basic articles with statistics for most of them, but these articles are missing solutions. Most of these games are free Flash games that can be played on Newgrounds and/or the Ninja Kiwi Archive. Some levels have solutions that are either from a video from DesArch or officially from Ninja Kiwi, that have not been documented on this wiki yet.
