Blooncyclopedia:Style guide/Characters
This article outlines how articles about major characters (monkeys, Heroes, Adventure Time characters, etc) in general should be formatted.
Lede
The lede section should be a concise summary of the subject. It should not be more than a few paragraphs long; specifics should be saved for other sections of the article.
Gameplay
If the subject has no playable appearances, then this section shouldn't be included.
This section should contain links to pages about the subject's gameplay. Each section should contain sub-sections with short summaries of how the subject plays in those games/series. For example, a Gameplay section for the Dart Monkey will have a section about the Bloons TD series, which should say something like "Dart Monkeys are towers that attack by throwing darts at nearby Bloons. They are usually the cheapest towers in the game and are designed to be used in early rounds."
For cases where playable appearances can be described in their entirety in a few sentences, the section should just describe it and the subject doesn't need a separate page for gameplay. For example, Storm Monkey shouldn't have a separate gameplay page because his gameplay only takes a few sentences to explain in full (you unlock him at level 50, he can use storm weapons instead of darts, that's about it).
General information
Appearance
This should be a description of the subject's physical characteristics: eye colour, fur/hair colour, clothing, etc. For towers in the Bloons TD series, this should also describe their upgraded appearances if those upgrades aren't significant enough to have pages about them in general (i.e. Dart Monkey's Quick Shots, which just gives it a green headband).
Personality and traits
If the subject is a generic unit (i.e. a tower or an upgrade), then this section shouldn't be included.
This section should describe the subject's personality and character traits (i.e. style of speech).
Other forms
If the subject has notable alternate forms/states, then this should be a list of those. If a form is notable enough to have its own page (i.e. the Sun Avatar, a form of the Super Monkey), it should be a brief summary and be linked to with {{main}}. Otherwise, it should describe the subject in full.
Lore
This section is a collection of all the miscellaneous details about the subject from various sources (but mostly the Ninja Kiwi Blog). Usually these details are unrelated to each other, so this is typically formatted as a bullet-point list. They can include things like food preferences, relationships with other characters, and hobbies. (Remember to cite your sources!)
This section should only contain facts that are a part of the character; facts that are about the character but aren't part of the character should be in a trivia section instead.
Cultural references
If the subject doesn't contain any references to history or popular culture, then this section shouldn't be included.
This section should be a list of references the subject makes to history or popular culture. Things like Churchill being named after Winston Churchill or all of Super Monkey's references to superheroes.
Gallery
Most characters will have a "main" gallery in the Gallery namespace, which should be linked to with {{main gallery}}. The gallery for this page in the mainspace should contain a few images as samples. The exact images used is up to the editor as long as it has a decent variety (e.g. don't use multiple similar images). If the character doesn't have a separate gallery, then this should just be a regular gallery.
Standard footer stuff
These sections should be placed below the gallery if they're needed.
