A keyword is a term in Bloons Card Storm that describes mechanics of a card, Hero Ability, or Striker's Adventure item. While not explicitly stated in-game, most keywords are either an effect of a card in and of itself or a condition under which an effect of the card triggers. The player can see a card's keywords when viewing a card in the Card Collection and during a match when the card is highlighted. For Monkey and Bloon cards, most keywords display their icons next to them during a match.

Some cards have keywords written in their card text, but they do not display those keywords' icons or descriptions. Some card descriptions use phrases such as "During your Turn", "During Opponent's Turn", and "When an opponent draws a Card" like keywords, but they are not keywords and have no icons or descriptions.

Monkeys Version 3.1 Some cards had this term in their card text since the Firstlook test, but it was not a keyword until version 3.1.
  On Damaged
Triggers on losing health from any source
Bloons Full Playable test Does not trigger if the Bloon is hit without losing any health, such as an attack from a Monkey with zero ATK, taking damage to its Shield, or having the damage negated by Armor.
  On Destroyed
Triggers when Bloon is Popped (by damage or effect) or when it hits opposing Hero.
Bloons Full Playable test Black Bloon had this term in its card text in the Firstlook test, but it was not a keyword until the Full Playable test. It originally only triggered when the Bloon was popped, just like On Popped.
  On Leak
Triggers when a Bloon attacks a Hero (after Defenders have acted).
Bloons, Monkeys Launch For Bloons, the Bloon with the keyword triggers when it hits the opposing Hero. For Monkeys, all Monkeys with the keyword trigger each time their Hero is hit by any Bloon (only triggering once if hit by a Double Attack or Triple Attack Bloon).
  On Play
Triggers when card is played.
Bloons, Monkeys Full Playable test With the exception of certain special Power cards like Avalanche and Bomb, all Power cards implicitly apply their effects On Play. Some cards had this term in their card text in the Firstlook test, but it was not a keyword until the Full Playable test.
  On Popped
Triggers when Bloon is Popped (by damage or effect). Does not trigger if Bloon hits opposing Hero.
Bloons, Monkeys Launch The only Monkey that has this keyword, Spike-o-Pult, has "On Pop" in its card text instead of "On Popped". For Bloons, the Bloon with the keyword triggers when it is destroyed by damage or an effect, but not by hitting the opposing Hero. For Monkeys, the Monkey with the keyword triggers when it pops a Bloon. Golden Bloon had this term in its card text in the Firstlook test, but it was not a keyword until the Full Playable test.
  On Reload
Triggers when this Monkey reloads.
Monkeys Version 3.1 Also triggers when reloaded by an effect, such as from Quick Reload. Some cards had this term in their card text since the Full Playable test, but it was not a keyword until version 3.1.
  On Replace
Triggers when this Monkey is replaced by another Monkey
Monkeys Version 2.0 Does not trigger if transformed into another Monkey (i.e., Total Transformation Monkey).
  On Turn End
Triggers once turn has ended
Bloons, Monkeys, Hero Abilities Full Playable test Occurs before Bloons reduce their delay or attack the opposing Hero. Blade Maelstrom always triggers after other Monkeys. Lead Coating Bloon always triggers after On Fire. If multiple cards with the same "priority" trigger at the same time, they trigger in the order they were played, oldest first.
  On Turn Start

Bloons, Monkeys Full Playable test Occurs before the player draws their card. For Monkeys, this occurs at the same time they perform their reload step. For Bloons, this occurs after Doomed Monkeys disappear. Multiple Bloons with this keyword trigger in their order on the Bloon track.
  Zero Gold
Triggers an additional effect if you have 0 Gold
Bloons, Monkeys, Powers Version 5.0 For Powers, the effect triggers if the player has no Gold remaining after playing the card, before the card effect applies.

All Ultra Rare cards Full Playable test The player can still generate temporary copies of Unique cards during a match (such as with Double Trouble), and can have multiple Unique cards in a deck in Striker's Adventure. Its icon does not appear next to Monkeys or Bloons during a match.
