Defender is an effect keyword in Bloons Card Storm. It causes a Monkey to automatically use all remaining ammo to attack any incoming Bloons from the opponent's side at the end of the opponent's turn. It always attacks before Adora's Sun Shield. If the player has multiple Defenders, they attack in the order they were played on the board, oldest first (i.e. first played Defender attacks until it has no ammo, then second and subsequent Defenders). Some Defenders also gain a certain amount of ATK during the entirety of the opponent's turn (notated as "Defender +<amount>" in the card text), making them deal more damage while defending. Defenders have shield-shaped plates beneath them instead of circular plates.

All Tack Shooter-type Monkeys are Defenders. Dark Champions buff Defenders during the opponent's turn. Offense Best Defense removes Defenders instead of lowering their ATK.
