In the Flash version, this upgrade is not very useful for its cost due to the already large radius of the base mortar's explosion. While it can boost [[Signal Flare (BMC)|Signal Flare]]'s consistency when aiming into wide curves, it still struggles to fast Bloons even with this upgrade.

In the multiplatform version, this upgrade is completely useless due to the blast radius bonus only affecting de-Regrow effects for Signal Flare, and that effect already has very low pierce.
