The Hero selection menu, with all Heroes as of Version 3.0

Heroes are a game mechanic in Bloons Card Storm. They are one of two components of a deck, the other being cards, and remain in play during an entire match. Each Hero starts with 500 health and comes with three abilities, with each ability having a different effect and requiring a different amount of Bloontonium to activate. The objective of the game is to reduce the health of the opponent's Hero to 0, primarily by playing Bloon cards to attack them.

Voice lines

All Heroes have voicelines, which can be toggled by volume in the Settings menu. Heroes may respond to events in the game. If the hero has multiple voicelines for a certain event, a random two-digit number is selected among the sound files. Most sound files for the Hero voicelines are formatted as <hero><sfx-category><two-digit-number>"

Starting a match with different heroes Greeting Upon starting a match with non-identical Heroes, the player's Hero greets the opposing hero, and vice versa. The voice line for Greeting plays in sequence with both heroes. There are always 2 separate sound files for Greeting.
Starting a match with identical heroes MirrorGreeting, MirrorReply Upon starting a match with identical Heroes, the player's Hero greets the opposing hero with MirrorGreeting, and the opposing hero responds with MirrorReply. There are always 2 separate sound files for MirrorGreeting, and 2 separate sound files for MirrorReply.
Victory and Defeat Victory, Defeat Victory is triggered if the player wins by depleting the opponent's lives to 0 or less, or the opponent surrenders, disconnects, or decks out. Defeat is triggered if the opponent wins. These conditions only trigger for the player's hero. Both Victory and Defeat each have 2 separate sound files.
Positive/Negative Reaction Positive, Negative Positive plays if the opponent's hero takes more than 250 damage in one turn. On the other hand, Negative plays if the player's hero takes at least 250 damage in one turn. These reactions were added in Version 2.0, although previously hidden in the game's code. Both Positive and Negative each have 2 separate sound files.
Damage Damage Damage plays every time a bloon leaks and damages the hero; it will not play if the bloon is blocked by Hero Protection. The hero will usually grunt or express pain. There are always 4 separate sound files for Damage.
Abilities Ability Ability voicelines are formatted as <hero>Ability<ability-number><two-digit-number>. Each ability voiceline always has 2 separate sound files.
Hero Card HeroCard If a Hero-exclusive card is activated, HeroCard plays. There are always 2 separate sound files for HeroCard.
